encyclopedic interests[edit]

At WP:SEEALSO we learn, “The links in the "See also" section do not have to be directly related to the topic of the article, because one purpose of the "See also" links is to enable readers to explore topics that are only peripherally relevant.” Anyone with an eye to the sociology of assimilating groups in U.S. history at the time of the American Civil War will be interested in the context and the ability to compare and contrast the experience of Irish-Americans with other contemporary groups.

How is it that someone who is interested in Irish-Americans in the Civil War would not be interested in the article "[American Civil War]"? How could it be that someone interested in Irish-Americans in the American Civil War who is Irish-German, Irish-Italian, Irish-Hispanic or Irish-African-American would not be interested in the histories of other ethnic groups in the American Civil War? Needs serious fixes[edit]

This page is a God-awful mess. It's very incomplete and reads as though a child wrote it. I will try to work on it. Spoonkymonkey (talk)

Needs mention of women[edit]

I added a lead section and wanted to include women but didn't seen any mention in the main article. I assume a number of Irish women worked as nurses and other non-fighting role. If any Irish women posed as men to fiht, which happened back then, it could make the article more interesting. Cahpcc (talk) 16:25, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
