I produced another article on this subject, only to find this one. I have therefore immediately merged my new article with this one. In doing so, I hav eliminated a number of statements that I am suspeciious of, including that America was the seventh largest producer of iron, for which a website about a 19th century ironworks was cited. I have left that reference as an external link, but I am doubtful of the veracity of that statement. I have seen data on Russia and Sweden (actually on their exports, not production), and on British production, but have never seen any estimates on prodcution in France, Germany or elsewhere. I have removed the statement that all pig and bar iron would have had to be sent to England, as this is plain wrong, as the article now explains. This is the result of a misunderstanding of the act and what a plating forge with a trip hammer did. I believe that everything I have left is correct and verifiable, though I have not cited all the references. Peterkingiron 23:33, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correct citation?[edit]

According to the Chronological Table of the Statutes (HMSO), this Act is chapter 29 not chapter 23. James500 (talk) 17:22, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
