Just explaining my alterations to your edit:

  • At present, the community of believers or Ummah in Ireland is one of the most diverse in Europe
Where is the evidence for this?
  • Khutbah from Imam Hussein based on Immigrant Council of Irelands', "Labour Migration into Ieland", 2003, p. 5-6 and 11
  • though there are more people from a South Asian background than any other.

I don't have Stats, Just that. If i had Stats I'd add them. I can tell you that according to the 2002 census, there are 19,147 Muslims in Ireland, over half (10,132) from Dublin. As it's a Census, I'm not sure if the Immigrants from Nigeria and Somalia seeking asylum here were counted.--Irishpunktom\talk 17:26, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Background material that might be useful[edit]

I just deleted the following block of text from Dublin Mosque, as it wasn't relevant to that page. It lacks references and doesn't quite have an encyclopedic tone, but maybe some of it could be useful here:

The first trickle of Muslims arrived in Ireland in the early 1950s. Initially, they came for education, especially to study medicine at the famous Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. Perhaps the Muslim students from the Republic of South Africa were the first to arrive in Ireland for this purpose. Students then followed from India, Malaysia and the Gulf states. In the 1970s a number of trainees in aircraft engineering came to Ireland from Algeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. When a number of students decided to reside in this country for work, and with the arrival of a number of Muslim businessmen and traders from the U.K., the first resident Muslim community in Ireland was formed. For many years the community was relatively small. According to the Irish census for 1991 the number of Muslims was 3,873. Since 1991 the number of Muslims increased considerably after the arrival of Muslim refugees from Bosnia, Somalia and Kosovo, as well as asylum seekers and professionals and workers from various Islamic countries. There is a still a good number of students mainly from Malaysia, the Gulf states and Pakistan. There are an estimated number of 2,000 medical doctors. The rest are businessmen, professionals, workers, asylum seekers, children, housewives and others. There is a number of Irish Muslims who accepted Islam and some European Muslims. According to the Irish census 2002 the number of Muslims was 19,147. The number has risen to 32,500 in 2006. The total population of Ireland was 4,239,848. As for the nationalities of Muslims living in Ireland and their countries of origin there over 40 nationalities represented in the community at present. "Radical theologians and organisations" Section has no citations![edit]

No citations and the use of the phrase "interesting" is clearly personal opinion. I don't see anything wrong with including a section on radical clerics if relevant and it has proper citation and isn't just personal opinion and original research but this is supposed to an encyclopedia entry not a blog! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ultan42 (talk • contribs) 14:28, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"The Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland is the home of the European Council of Fatwa and Research (ECFR)" This statement especially needs citation. I'm not saying if the statement is true or not but if it is a fact that the ICC is home to the ECFR then it needs a citation to support it. The quotes from al-Qaradawi on this page at least have citations for them on the page for him, this quote has nothing.

A search on the ICC website only shows 3 mentions of the ECFR, one about hosting a ECFR conference, a press release about the conference and the a press release about a new book. http://www.islamireland.ie/search/?q=ECFR A search on the ICC for the full term only brings up two new results one about Shari'a law and finance and one about the Human project charity both of which have ECFR speakers. http://www.islamireland.ie/search/?q=European+Council+for+Fatwa+and+Research None of these links mention the ICC as the home of the ECFR. In fact the fact that they say they are hosting the conference instead of it simply being held there seems to suggest to me that it is not their HQ. If there are any links to more clearly support this assertion then they need to be cited! Encyclopedias are not the place for speculation, conjecture, personal opinion or original research! Drogheda Crest[edit]

The star and crescent in this context is obviously a medieval European heraldic device, not an Islamic symbol.
