city? or rather village[edit]

a "city" of 286 people?? more like a village, or a settlement. Cities have usually 100,000s or millions of people. 93.197.99.250 (talk) 05:03, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Any collection of people can incorporate as a city according to the rules of their own locality. What it's called is up to the city itself, as it's part of the city's name - the loose "rules" around when a city qualifies as a City or a Town, etc, aren't always followed in this respect, especially since these terms are more accurate as descriptors of governing structure and rights granted than of size or population. (Of course, whether a given city is part of a metropolis, micropolis, etc, *is* entirely driven by such rules, but those aren't involved in this case.) - Sendoshin (talk) 22:22, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
