Survey[edit]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Support isurv has transformed the way surveyors and construction professionals research information and guidance. It deserves to be on wikipedia.

  • Support isurv is used by many in the industry and has been covered by specialist news outlets over a period of time. The article now references some of those sources which should help with passing WP:Notability Deanlove (talk) 11:37, 9 July 2010 (UTC).[reply]
  • Oppose Time will tell whether the page survives. Assuming that it does, it should be titled in accordance with Wikipedia:Manual of Style (capital letters), which states For trademarks that are given in mixed or non-capitalization by their owners (such as adidas), follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules for proper nouns. As with Adidas, we should clearly capitalise the title, which should therefore be Isurv. Skinsmoke (talk) 08:45, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I think this whole discussion misses the point. We are concerned here with whether this is a proper title for the subject, not whether it should or should not exist as an article. If we want it deleted at this title, it can be taken to MfD. If we want it deleted at the mainspace, it can be taken to AfD. There was never any need for this to be listed in the controversial section of WP:RM at all, which results from a misunderstanding by the creator as to how to request the move or move it him or herself. This is an uncontroversial request that could have been made at the uncontroversial section of WP:RM, or moved through placing {{Move draft}} or placed into Category:Requests to move a userspace draft directly, or simply moved by the autoconfirmed creator, as is done dozens of times a day, and then reviewed in the normal course and marked for deletion by an appropriate method, if deletion is what should be sought. It's true that in practice, at WP:FEED, we often tell people "no it's not ready to be moved yet, do X or Y," but there we're really doing this because we want improvement and hope this will get it so it avoids deletion—we're helping the user, but the idea there, or here, that an article can't be moved until it's ready results in a strange limbo, where if there is no improvement, and the person doesn't figure out that they can absolutely move the article themselves, the article sits around and often avoids ever being reviewed and properly deleted if that is what should happen. Let's move this, and thus initiate the normal patrol procedures we have for a newly created articles.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:18, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Support The entry doesn't seem to be advertising (there's no prices or anything) and my understanding of notability is that it's "an attempt to assess whether the topic has received 'attention from the world at large' or has 'enduring notability'"[1]. Wouldn't the awards count as having attention from the world at large? Amyjjones (talk) 13:02, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Any additional comments:

isurv is a key daily tool for surveyors and other construction professionals and has helped transform how both research material and guidance. I think this should be able to be researched on Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Syrecmils (talkcontribs) 12:56, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
