Possible merge[edit]

According to the College Football Data Warehouse they are different people, with different spellings of last names. This, of course, could be an error. We should find out.--Paul McDonald (talk) 03:50, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge. Although the CFB DW is a very reliable website, it is not infallible and a completely trustworthy one. I have found mistakes myself on there (such as coaching discrepancies, missing coaching information etc) and emailed them about it, and they've responded with an apology for the error and then they fixed it. My point is, I am willing to bet every cent in my bank account that these two articles are actually the same person and it was a mere misspelling in the Virginia Tech media guide for his last name (because nobody spells Ingersoll with an 'e' instead of an 'o', let's be honest). I have merged Jack Ingersell into this article. The NCAA database (http://web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/careersearch) lists the 1911 Colgate coach and the 1916 Virginia Tech coach as the same person with the correct spelling as "Ingersoll". I have emailed this error to David DeLassus at the CFBDW. Jweiss11 (talk) 19:37, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
