Unguarded and his 80's career[edit]

Listening to the album Unguarded, I was curious to learn more about the engineer's career circa 1985. The sound on this album must have been a challenge to achieve. The drums are very prominent, the synthesizers very evident, yet the vocal is not crowded out. Indeed Amy Grant never sounded more like a pop star. The balancing act that the engineer pulls off here is impressive. So I was wondering how much work he had at this point and were he got his start.
