When I lived in Western Pennsylvania, in Peters Township (south of Pittsburgh), in the USA (and in the 1970s), we called this type of skiing device a Yankee Jumper. My grandmother who lived in Parker, Pennsylvania said that when she was young, they called it a Go Devil. I can't remember where I got it from, so I don't know who made it or where it was made. My Yankee Jumper was probably hand-made and it had one wooden ski, a vertical rectangular board and a flat rectangular wooden seat. Mine was extremely well made and now I'm sorry I don't have it anymore. The ski had a metal strip on the bottom for durability and the metal strip made it easier to ride in the snow. There were two metal supports from the vertical board to the seat. There were also two metal supports from the vertical board to the ski. It was very well constructed and durable. Mine was painted red white and blue. The ski was red, the vertical board was white and the seat was blue. If I find a picture of it, I will post it sometime in the future.
