General Characteristics needs to be updated[edit]

It is apparent that these vessels specifications differ from those presented here, perhaps changing during construction since the publication of the 2009 Jane's (the reference used). The ADF image linked show a close-up of the aft. (Links for IE and Firefox given because the ADF images site doesn't play nice between browsers).

It can be plainly seen that the main guns are single mounts and not the twins as stated in the article. They are actually 30mm mounts: http://www.theage.com.au/world/timor-boat-purchase-could-set-diplomacy-adrift-20100606-xnaf.html

Also the two twin mounts on the deckhouse aft of the bridge definitely aren't twin 25mm, but are a twin HMG of either 12.7mm or 14.5mm. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.200.17.13 (talk)

Best bet would be to find an updated source that specifies this (which the news article above should do in the meantime for the 30mm gun). In the meantime, I've restored the aft gun info (because that's what the cited source says), and mark it with a {{dubious}} tag pointing here. -- saberwyn 08:15, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what's dubious about information sourced from Jane's Fighting Ships... Nick-D (talk) 08:28, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The IP claims that the guns aboard the ships (as shown in photographs) do not correspond with the data in Jane's. The cited edition was published before the ships entered service...maybe there was an armament change during construction? There's already one source giving a different main armament (the Age's 30 mm vs Jane's twin 37 mm) Either way, a post-commissioning source detailing the ships' armament is required, to prove if Jane's or the IP and the Age is correct. -- saberwyn 09:14, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'll check the most recent edition of Jane's next week. Nick-D (talk) 10:14, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
