Excuse me - WHAT...?!

You're right. Jacopo della Quercia, a Sienese,had seen the marvelous work of Nicola Pisano (and Arnolfo di Cambio) on the pulpit of the Siena cathedral. Later in his career, he worked together with Donatello and Lorenzo Ghiberti on the font in the baptistery of the cathedral. My documentation on the Siena cathedral also says that Jacopo della Quercia, was the only one of the three who had already worked in the cathedral at the very beginning of his career. The marble Madonna at the top of the Piccolomini altar is dated 1397-1400 and may have been Jacopo's earliest work. JoJan 14:21, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
