Generic Title?[edit]

Should this not be moved to Jamaica National Premier League? It seems a very generic title and pretty much all of the other CONCACAF leagues indicate either the nation or the national governing body in their title. Fenix down (talk) 10:25, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

National Premier League → National Premier League (Jamaica) – This is a generic title which could refer to any of more than 50 leagues listed in Premier League (disambiguation). This Jamaican competition is nowhere near being the WP:primary topic.

Oppose - The current title fully satisfies WP:COMMONNAME, WP:CRITERIA, and WP:DAB (no need to disambiguate). No other league appears to exist with this actual title in English, and there's no valid reason to force readers looking for this specific article to the DAB page. Anyone looking for another league would have to go to the DAB page anyway, and the hatnote takes care of that. Note that National Premier Leagues (plural name) also exists at that title, not at National Premier Leagues (Australia), as determined at Talk:National Premier Leagues#Requested move, which also verified this title for the Jamaican league. - BilCat (talk) 02:02, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Comments - The above Oppose is based on "National Premier League" actually being the official name of the league. None of the working sources use that name, but use Red Stripe Premier League instead. There appears to be an exception to the common name title guideline for sponsored league titles, as these often change every few years. - BilCat (talk) 02:24, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Strong support it obviously isn't the only National Premier League as 21,400 recent GNews hits -Jamaica demonstrate. Wikipedia is not reality, we need to look at the real world. Neither of those leagues share the same title. The UK one is either called Priemier Legaue or English Premier League and while similar the Australian one is Nation Premier Leagues not National Premier League (note the s at the end).--64.229.165.48 (talk) 03:22, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - Category:Top level football leagues in Africa, Category:Top level football leagues in Asia, Category:Top level football leagues in Europe, etc, clearly show that the conventional titling for these competitions is "Country Premier League".
