Unfinished article... I apologize for leaving it unfinished[edit]

I worked on this article for a while, but I am giving up on it as it was too frustrating and not worth the time or effort. My experiment with writing on Wk is dead. I was probably about three-quarters finished with this article in terms of researching, editing, organizing and fine-tuning. The University of Iowa near my town (I am in community college right now) has an excellent art library (temp. moved to their main library due to a major flood) and I would have liked to have researched this artist using their collection. The article needs to be edited for clarity and style, and at least two new sections should probably be added, such as "Major works" and "Murals." Also, the "Western landscapes" section needs to be expanded and the first part of it moved or edited as it does not currently fit with the rest of the article. I doubt any person will take up this work, but I felt it was at least worth noting that the article does not presently properly reflect a comprehensive look at the artist or his work. I would rather the article be removed, as I don't like an unfinished article to stand. However, even though I wrote it entirely myself (all edits other than mine deal w/ the citations), apparently, this is not possible. Norlns22 (talk) 22:10, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

School mixup[edit]

As a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, and an artist, I see what appears to be an odd mixup in this article. In the overview of facts at the top it states Doolin went to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, however, in the body of the article itself it states he went to Philadelphia’s University of the Arts. These are two very different institutions. The PAFA was founded in 1805 and is one of the most prominent and earliest art school in the U.S., where many important American painters attended. The U of the Arts is a very good school, but has far less stature in terms of the history of American painting. It’s quite possible that he went to both, but I sincerely doubt it.
