Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on August 19, 2011.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that after World War II, Polish resistance organizer and Warsaw Uprising fighter Jan Mazurkiewicz (pictured) was brutally tortured by the authorities in communist Poland?

note on military ranks[edit]

As I understand this [1], if the rank precedes the name it's capitalized, but not otherwise. So it would be "Colonel Jan Mazurkiewicz did this and that", but also "Jan Mazurkiewicz was made a colonel". Correct me if I'm wrong.Volunteer Marek (talk) 10:24, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
