A look at the Asian Diaspora through the works of Meiling Jin and Jan Lo Shinebourne. The books of these such as "The Song of the Boatwoman" and "The Last English Plantation." Finding contextual evidence of the struggle of traditional asian and Hawaiian culture being uprooted by western methodologies and practices through the article by Tao Goffe. Yun, L. (2001). Linking African and Asian in Passing and Passage. Souls, 3(3), 50-64. The article talks about Jan Shinebourne and other authors that talk about self-determination of Guyanese women. Shinebourne in particular gives perspectives of the culture and political aspects in a creolized format. There has been an increase in the study of creolization in different cultures, which has been impacted by authors such as Jan Shinebourne. She uses her novels to provide her perspective on cultural aspects from her own personal experience. Authors like her have paved the way for an increase in focus on creolization of different cultures. Alex Bates 20:01, 25 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex.bates4 (talkcontribs) Looking into the impact that Jan Shinebourne's literary work has had on representing the Chinese Caribbean Diaspora. This is an analysis of Jan Shinebourne as an author that looks into her identity as a Chinese diaspora writer. The article used is "Swaying in time and space: the Chinese Diaspora in the Caribbean and its literary perspectives" by Shin Yamamoto. [3]Anshirle (talk) 23:53, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Include in the introduction paragraph of the works section: Jan Shinebourne is one of only a few authors who have used their novels to bring to light the aspects of Chinese Caribbean studies. There is not a lot of focus on the Chinese Diaspora, but Jan has used her novels to examine the relationship among many characteristics. These characteristics include relationships between homeland and country of residence and the impact it has on the diaspora. [2] Alex Bates 20:29, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Background: After living in London for 40 years, she made the move to Sussex, which is where she currently lives. Her works have been praised by Anne Jordan and Chris Searle for their literary value and political engagement.[4] Alex Bates 20:43, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Hey guys it would be great if you could add a picture of Jan Lowe Shinebourne to this page since one is available & and infobox. Here is a link for a photo: http://www.indocaribbeanworld.com/archives/2011/september_7_2011/book.htm and here is a link on how to do an infobox https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_person Kkblank (talk) 17:46, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey group, just a little thought for you guys. I would consider adding an "Awards" section to your page. I know Morgane wanted us to list that as a separate section if the author has received any awards. Other than that I think it looks very good. Ajanusz3 (talk) 02:41, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nice article! I think that you should make sure at add information about "The Last Ship". Right now it is empty and simply listed there. Even just a brief summary would be nice! Miles Friday (talk) 16:49, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up, there is an error on the 4th citation of this page. Make sure to check that! Miles Friday (talk) 16:52, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think you guys have a solid article here. Other than adding a picture as mentioned above, and adding a summary of "The Last Ship", I think the page is in good shape! Bamsaker5 (talk) 18:47, 19 April 2015 (UTC)bamsaker5[reply]

The information you included about Shinebourne's most popular works is very strong. You covered a lot of important aspects that each of the works. The articles you used were very strong, and I think you did a good job portraying the important pieces from them. I am working now to incorporate a picture into the background box to the right. I am also working to fix my citation (the 4th one). Alex Bates 21:02, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Looks really strong. The layout/organization of the article looks good. I like the detailed explanations of all of her works. Like others have stated, adding a photo of the author would really benefit the page in general. Good work!Nshaffer22 (talk) 22:19, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone have any idea how to fix the fourth citation. I cannot seem to figure it out. Alex Bates 21:16, 19 April 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex.bates4 (talkcontribs)

I like what you guys have come up with. The only other thing you may want to add is a picture, if you can find one and obtain permission to use it.Ryan J Betz (talk) 21:28, 19 April 2015 (UTC)Ryan Betz[reply]

Looking good guys!!! I agree with Ryan, you should try to add a picture. But make sure it isn't copy written 01:41, 20 April 2015 (UTC)Powersjessica (talk) 01:41, 20 April 2015 (UTC) powersjessica[reply]

Has anyone been able to gain access to a photo? I have not received an email confirmation about whether or not we can use the image. Also, I am still struggling to figure out how to fix my reference error, if anyone has an idea on how to fix it let me know!
