Citations needed in the Filmography section[edit]

I added a "Citations needed" tag to the Filmography section, since it seems that the list might have come from IMDB. Per many discussions, IMDB has been deemed "unreliable" as a source to use on Wikipedia (since it is user-generated content).

See WP:RSP, and look up "IMDB", for more information. - Whisperjanes (talk) 00:21, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well then you got a ton of work because almost none of the actor articles have even one ref in the filmography section. Seven Pandas (talk) 21:48, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Whisperjanes and Seven Pandas, That seems to also be true of most film and TV appearances that are mentioned in texts of biographies of actors and actresses. I don't understand why, but citations seem to be the exception rather than the rule.Eddie Blick (talk) 01:34, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Teblick, Right, I think it's hard to check a filmography for accuracy unless it's compared with the actual films' credits. And Seven Pandas, I hope the tag didn't seem too harsh (I'm a little lighter now with tags like that than I was a year ago) - I was more trying to point out that 1.) IMDB is not a reliable source and 2.) the info added from it needed to be double checked with a reliable source for accuracy. I didn't tag it because citations are necessary in every filmography on Wikipedia. In hindsight, a different tag might have been better to use (although I'm not sure which off the top of my head...) - Whisperjanes (talk) 03:02, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, but now that I'm looking, it seems like the issue is still there and the section needs to be double-checked? Refs to Amazon were added, but the link I'm seeing only shows 5 credits, but it was cited to more than 20 credits (unless I'm missing something). - Whisperjanes (talk) 03:23, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Whisperjanes and Seven Pandas, I'm not sure that Amazon is any better as a source than IMDb, at least in this case. If you compare the Jan Shutan page on IMDb with the page about her on Amazon, the contents are virtually identical, at least for the text. I haven't compared the credits. The Amazon page has an IMDb graphic under the text block, and the bottom of the IMDb page shows that it is "an amazon (sic) company". Eddie Blick (talk) 01:25, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
