History[edit]

For those new to this article, here is a brief history:

  • It was created and speedy deleted within a hour
  • The admin agreed to undo the speedy deletion & send it to AfD instead
  • The AfD was speedy closed after about 13 hours as a "gross BLP violation."
  • A little while later Power.corrupts recreated an anonymous version of the article from scratch in his user space and asked for deletion review.
  • The deletion review closed as "endorse deletion" but left the possibility of reworking the material wide open
  • The user space version was moved here & un-anonymized; The original, deleted version remains deleted (and is significantly different)

Notes/What next[edit]

Please note that while in the incubator the article is noindexed, which means it won't show up in any reputable search engine.

Before the article can potentially return to mainspace, a few things should happen:

  • We should ensure that every sentence is neutral & rigorously sourced (i.e. source to a unquestionable source)
  • We should rework the article to not read like a biography
  • we should seriously consider a rename

There is no rush here, so let's make sure we are certain the article is the best it can be before considering a move. This is a very sensitive issue in many editors eyes and should be treated with the upmost care.

Thank you, ThaddeusB (talk) 02:07, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Per the DRV, what we need here is an article about the legal case and not the person. Would such an article correctly be titled State of Georgia -v- Allison J? I'm not sure what the pattern is, with the US legal system.—S Marshall Talk/Cont 10:37, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • It varies by state. In this case, it would either be "State of Georgia v. Allison" or "State of Georgia v. Janet (middle name) Allison" as Georgia seems to use both those formats at different times. I don't know which applies and can't find any source that gives the case by name. Really the only difference between writing about the case at her name and at the case name is the first sentence, but yah that makes a big difference to some editors. --ThaddeusB (talk) 16:39, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • Hmm, thank you. We may need to ask an editor with access to a case law database. In response to the last sentence of your reply, I had rather intended to rewrite the whole thing from scratch.—S Marshall Talk/Cont 22:32, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
        • Yah, I meant even if rewritten to focus entirely on the case some would still have a problem w/the article being under the JA title. --ThaddeusB (talk) 23:14, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
          • Despite a diligent search I cannot find the precise case title. I imagine that in Georgia, as in Britain, such proceedings are kept out of the public domain.—S Marshall Talk/Cont 23:18, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article on the case is up[edit]

State of Georgia v. Allison.—S Marshall Talk/Cont 19:49, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Should this be moved to Janet Allison (and redirected of course) in order to keep the page history around or just deleted? --ThaddeusB (talk) 01:56, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to keep the page history, as a record of this series of events. Alternatively to have the anon. version restored in my sandbox. Marshall did a great job. Power.corrupts (talk) 09:49, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
