Service Record doesn't match the ship's history[edit]

How can this ship have been sunk on June 25, 1942 and then participate in the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands (October) and the Battle of Guadalcanal (November)? I'm removing the battles. If this ship did in fact participate in them and was sunk on a different date, please correct this page with a source. lukini (talk | contribs) 18:06, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Torpedoed Japanese destroyer Yamakaze sinking on 25 June 1942.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on June 25, 2018. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2018-06-25. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 01:51, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese destroyer Yamakaze (1936)
A view of the Japanese destroyer Yamakaze through the periscope of the submarine USS Nautilus, after being torpedoed approximately 60 nautical miles (110 km) southeast of Yokosuka, Japan. The Shiratsuyu-class destroyer, which had been traveling independently from Ōminato towards the Inland Sea, sank with all hands. Yamakaze had previously been involved in battles at Tarakan (1942), Java Sea (1942), and Midway (1942), sinking one submarine and assisting in the sinking of two ships.Photograph: United States Navy
