Notability

Why does this exist? This person has little to zero contribution to popular culture, science, society or otherwise.24.12.226.239 (talk) 06:03, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

jenna marbles was a gogo girl Notability is not determined by your subjective analysis, but rather by the degree of coverage the subject has received in third party sources. If you feel this article subject isn't notable, please consider researching the subject to validate your suspicion. If you still can't find any appropriate sources, then consider nominating this article for deletion. For now, several sources have already been used to cite the article content, so consider finding more. --Cast (talk) 03:46, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
I agree, with only two outside sources (apart from youtube), there isn't enough impact from her to warrant an article. --24.155.209.150 (talk) 15:16, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Jenna Marbles has more than 2.000.000 subscribers on You Tube and one single video has been seen more than 35.000.000 times - I would call her famous and she sure has a place in Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.62.116.117 (talk) 01:53, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

I agree that she should have a page, but I think many other pages for Youtube "celebrities" go a bit overboard. So many of them have more detailed Wikipedia pages than real celebrities. These people really aren't that famous outside of a select demographic (mainly teenagers). Meanwhile there are people who are widely known across all demographics and parts of the world. I mean, Shane Dawson's page is the same length as Adam Sandler's page. That's ridiculous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheyCallMeTheEditor (talkcontribs) 21:05, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Jenna Mourey recently received two awards in Ireland for reasons unknown, even to her: the James Joyce Award from University College Dublin, and the Bram Stoker from Trinity College. Her video about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GQEsA6Ipq3o

This article mentions the James Joyce Award: http://newmediarockstars.com/2013/02/youtube-star-jenna-marbles-receives-james-joyce-award-in-dublin-ireland-interview/

--Amelia Paige (talk) 22:24, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

I agree. I only subscribed to Jenna's channel out of curiosity way back just as she was starting to do funny vidoes. i would watch her vidoes because i'd get an email because i subscribed. i rarely watched an entire one. then i saw that all these subscriptions and views were winning her awards. what people fail to realize is that subscriptions and reviews don't have any value if the person in question is not otherwise notable - as in Jenna. I unsubscribed because I don't believe she deserves the notoriety and especially awards. She is not making any kind of important or interesting contribution except to show there is a disconnect in terms what we consider value. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.29.17.10 (talk) 00:14, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Expansion suggestions

Hello. I don't think I've ever posted in a discussion before, so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but ah well. I was thinking maybe we could put up a picture of Jenna (there are plenty of them readily available) and maybe more information about her views/personality. She really opens herself up to people on the internet, so I think there is a lot more we could say. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abbyroad711 (talkcontribs) 00:25, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

As a biography article, it is very important that all detailed information be cited appropriately, so as to avoid conflicts with potentially incorrect information. Since the subject doesn't seem that well covered, Wikipedia is limited in what it can mention here. Until then, much will have to go unwritten. By following the subject in media, you can update the article over time as new sources become available. --Cast (talk) 03:46, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Edit request on 31 July 2012

I wanted to edit the Jenna Marbles page because I know a lot about her and think it could be useful for more information. I promise I won't mess anything up. Kesselar (talk) 23:04, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

You will be able to edit the page, after you are autoconfirmed. This requires that your account is at least 4 days old and you have made 10 edits. RudolfRed (talk) 23:17, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Article existence

Yes, she is a notable youtuber but I think this page has no reason to exist. She's famoys and all, but if a video that consisted in just nothing had a 500.000.000 views, would we make an article about it here? I guess no, because it's pointless. The same happens with her, most of her videos are conclusions that she considers facts based on NOTHING, pure idiotic speculation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.82.177.114 (talk) 00:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Again, that is your own subjective opinion. Many would say otherwise about her contributions. And, yes, if most of her videos on youtube are over a million views, she's definitely famous enough to warrant an article. (174.89.42.81 (talk) 22:10, 21 August 2012 (UTC))

I absolutely would if a video was "nothing" but had 500,000,000 views. That number of views makes it into something. Whether it is a criticism, or a work of art, or a glitch in the matrix, its existence is of value and noteworthy. Quit being all butthurt that you will never be as notable as Jenna XD — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:BB8:2002:3400:187C:2DA:5C18:EE5C (talk) 23:56, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

Jayme Dee

Just wondering, why is the person Jayme Dee mentioned on the external links part of her article? Is it spam, or is it actually related to the article? Should it be deleted? (174.89.42.81 (talk) 22:10, 21 August 2012 (UTC))

Well spotted. I can't find any correlation between Jayme Dee & Jenna Marbles, so I've removed them. Chaheel Riens (talk) 07:07, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Readability

I feel some of the grammar and syntax in this article needs to be edited. Parts of it are hard to understand. I'll make some minor edits myself, but in a couple of places I'm not sure what the author was trying to say. Specifically:

"She shoots and uploads a new video to her YouTube channel all on Wednesdays." Does that mean all of the work is done on Wednesdays? Or did the author mean that this happens every Wednesday? Or both?

"In addition to this, Max also has his own channel with more frequent vlogs with Jenna included in them." Are Max's vlogs more frequent than Jenna's? Or do Max's vlogs include Jenna more often than hers include him?

Bryce Murphy

"In 2010 she met the entertainer Bryce Murphy and the two have been engaged in a serious relationship ever since."

I can't find anything online that supports this, or the claim that her dog's real name is "Bryce".

"The name 'Marbles' comes from one of her dogs named Bryce."

Edward Norton

Has anyone noticed how Jenna looks like the main character of the movie Fight Club (Edward Norton)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.222.174.16 (talk) 00:08, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Does she do her own writing/editing ?

Just curious. I wouldn't be surprised if she had an editor. --Pmsyyz (talk) 23:36, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

I'm sure that she does her own writing, and likely all of her own editing; it's certainly indicated by her videos and interviews she's given. Flyer22 (talk) 23:42, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

what does she actually do??

I came to this article to find out what this person does. All I have discovered is she is a YouTube entertainer. What kind? Satire? Sketch Comedy. Kind of stupid to come to this page and can find out how many subscribers/viewers but not what they subscribe to/view.139.218.177.138 (talk) 16:39, 28 August 2014 (UTC) Thanks for all the replies people!! Still no explanation of what she actually does on YouTube. Starting to wonder if she's even notable. I know I could easily solve my curiosity by visiting youtube, but, the whole point is trying to improve this article so people can read it and know what she really does.139.218.177.138 (talk) 13:09, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Notability is not established by the content currently in the article but with non-trivial coverage in reliable sources, which this article has. Feel free to improve the article in this manner yourself. Nikthestunned 13:21, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
She's obviously notable, but I also have the same question. Why is her youtube channel so popular? Answering this question would really improve the article. Dlabtot (talk) 03:52, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Dogs

The article says in one place that she has three dogs, in another that she has two. The statement that she has three dogs is "sourced" to this, which says that she has two dogs. If she has three, perhaps somebody can find a source for this.

(In case anyone is wondering: No, I know nothing about her.) -- Hoary (talk) 07:54, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

Google says she recently bought a puppy. Do we really care about sourcing that though, enough to be discussing it? I've removed the "source" which does indeed deserve the air quotes we're both giving it. Nikthestunned 09:03, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
Well, possessing a third dog is hardly remarkable, so I suppose this junky source would be OK for it. And I suppose if it's worth saying, it should be sourced. Her own "about" page says she has two dogs. Apparently her dog possession is a big thing, as people keep attempting to edit the article this way or that for the number of dogs. -- Hoary (talk) 12:23, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
