Regarding the birthplaces of the Rivera children

Something here isn't making any sense. According to the biographies of the Rivera children, Jenni was born first, in Long Beach, CA in 1969. Lupillo was born later, in 1972, but according to various sources he was born in either Ciudad Obregon, Sonora or in the state of Jalisco; whichever one of the two, he was supposedly born in Mexico but moved to the US at age 4 with his family, which would mean he arrived in the US in 1976. However, his sister Jenni was born seven years before the Rivera family supposedly arrived in the US, yet her birth place is listed as the United States! How does this make any sense? That is big lie her mom was knew she was pregnant of Jenni Rivera a month after they got to th U.S., she said it herself in her newest album "Mi Vida Loca" (Note: I have posted this same question in Lupillo Rivera's talk page as well.) 205.246.153.217 (talk) 22:54, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Jenni was not born in the United States. Lupillo's official site says he was born in Jalisco and HE is younger than Jenni and was born several years later. I've heard Jenni saying that she relocated to LA when she was young, too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.105.53.7 (talk) 13:46, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

The latest news is that her son (19 yrs old) has had sex with a child below 14 yrs old and was bailed out of jail (50 thousand dollars) by his mom Jenni; Jenni has held a press conference stating that her son is not a spoiled brat that does whatever he likes and to please not compare him to his father José Trinidad Marín which was found guilty of sexually abusing 7, 8, and 11 yr old little girls. This is all verifiable through media outlets as well as the Riverside County Court system. This is not lible it is news worthy and thus must be included on her page. Rape victims

Is it necessary to identify a rape victim, especially one under 18, particularly when the court record deleted the victim's name because she was underage? The sentence in "Early Life" should read: "In 2006, Marín was convicted of raping one of Rivera's daughters and a sister-in-law;..." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.43.87.117 (talk) 10:45, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

I've commented out the daughter's name so it can only be seen in the edit (or view source) window. Since it's in the source cited I don't think it'll make that much difference anyway. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 11:24, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Neither victim's name was deleted, and the family has discussed the matter themselves in the press. Jokestress (talk) 11:41, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Then if one is named, to be consistent why isn't the other named? Or more to the point, if one is not named, why isn't the other not named? Even tho the names are in the source document, most people do not refer to the footnotes. Why stigmatize an innocent child victim who must still face the world, even if now an adult? According to the source:

"The judge said she considered child molestation among the three most
horrendous crimes - just below murder and torture. To molest your own
children, she added, 'was a betrayal of the worst kind.'"

Don't you agree that the name of the victim is not necessary because the central point being made is the conviction of the rapist who was Rivera's ex-husband (and the father of one child and the uncle of the other!). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.43.87.117 (talk) 13:14, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

The victim's name should be stripped from the article. Not only is it bad manner to post the name of a victim without consent, it also illegal in most western countries. Persons under 18 cannot be named whether they are a victim or a criminal and doing so is a felony (Canada, Usa, UK). In the USA and Canada the law does not care if the victim is a non-citizen and it does not care if the law broken is out of its jurisdiction. In addition it doesn't care if you reveal the name by proxy. 24.246.40.138 (talk) 20:05, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
The editor has taken a bad situation and made it worse. Now both names of these two child molestation victims are given in an encyclopedia article. This is not necessary to provide the relevant information that the perpetrator was convicted and sentenced to a long prison term. According to the source document, these two children were as young as 8 when the crime occurred. Also according to the source, one of the victims testified:
"Rivera's sister Rosa said she not only lost her innocence at age 8 because of Marin, she lost her trust 'in men, herself and the world.'"
Haven't these children, now adults, been victimized enough? The decent thing to do is to remove their names from the main article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.43.87.117 (talk) 20:37, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Being American, she has no maternal last name

Jenni Rivera was born in the United States, so legally she has no maternal last name. Her one and only last name is Rivera. Saavedra should be deleted since it is not part of her legal name, even if Mexican tradition says to use a maternal last name. The picture of the California driver's license posted above even shows that legally, her only surname is Rivera. 71.11.122.54 (talk) 23:44, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Can this statement be changed?

Can this statement be changed- Univision has reported that the pilots of the plane had logged more hours on their shift than commercial airlines allow. Yes this is true, but were the Pilots flying a commercial aircraft? Were the Pilots commercial pilots? If the pilots were private pilots, and the aircraft was a private plane then why does this statement about flying more than 19 hours even matter since they were not working in the commercial industry? what are the FAA guidelines for how many hours a private pilot can fly in a 24 hour period? I think the statement should read something along the lines of- The pilots flying the aircraft were private pilots flying a private plane, but Univision reports has reported that the pilots of the plane had logged more hours on their shift than commercial airlines allow. My husband is a private pilot and knows all the FAA rules and regulations for private pilots. He is asleep, but when he wakes I will ask him what the rules for private pilots are and he can point me to the FAA website that has the rules.--BeckiGreen (talk) 15:50, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

How many marriages?

According to most online articles, Jenni has been married three times. But on a reality show (Chiquis & Raq-C: A Day Without Chiquis, Ep 10) Chiquis said that her mother's marriage to Esteban will be her first and last marriage. Jenni herself told Esteban that she's never been married before on the same episode. Then on the same reality show (Chiquis & Raq-C: Rumble at the Rumba? Ep 12) Jenni says, "...Marriages break up. I was Jenni and Juan [López] once...then I was Jenni and Trino [José Trinidad Marín] another time". This was in reference to friendships, but I her marriage example was confusing. I don't understand the contradictions. Was she or wasn't she married? I don't have any online sources for this, so I left the husband detail alone (in the "personal life" section). I would think if she said that she's never been married and her daughter said it, it can still apply. Does anyone know the truth or can anyone cite sources? Chic3z (talk) 14:29, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Rivera's Current Net Worth

According to the "Official" net worth website which is referenced next to amount in the infobox, it states Jenni Rivera's net worth is 25 million U.S. dollars. But according to the Forbes website, since her death in 2012, she earned herself a spot on the Forbes Top Earning Dead Celebrities of 2013, making an estimate of 7 million U.S. dollars. Here is the website: http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mfl45ehfld/jenni-rivera/. So on that note you can just basically add the 7 million U.S. dollars to her net worth. Gavino (talk) 22:59, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Jenni Rivera's net worth is $32 million

Okay so I saw someone wrongly edited Jenni Rivera's net worth to $300 million! Before her tragic death it was $25 million, her net worth has increased 7 million which adds up to $32 million. Her actual net worth is $32 million people! Search it on google! I searched every net worth website and Jenn Rivera's is $32 million if you search on google it will automatically tell you. So stop giving fake information, don't we all want a correct page for Jenni Rivera? Here is proof: http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mfl45ehfld/jenni-rivera/ Marielopez124 (talk) 17:56, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

@Marielopez124: The burden of proof rests on you as you are the one making the claim about Rivera's net worth. Back up your claim with a reliable source, otherwise your edits keep on being reverted as information not verified by a source will be removed. Erick (talk) 18:12, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
@Marielopez124: That article was written in 2013. This article and this article (which are both referenced in the net worth claim) both state $300 million net worth. Show a source where you getting the $32 from. Erick (talk) 18:21, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
The source of the both of those articles is this [1] from El Universal. Near the end of the article it says her namesake company is worth 25 million, which doesn't make a lot of sense if she is worth 300. I find it highly unlikely her net worth went from 25 to 300 million in 2 years, but I don't see anything out there that questions this story. Last year they were saying the family was frittering away her fortune and it wouldn't last 3 years [2]. Vrac (talk) 18:45, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
Well I'm not the one who added the sources I listed above to the article so I'm not sure what to say. Erick (talk) 18:56, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Jenni Rivera's net worth is $32 million not $300 million

I see how after every time I edit Rivera's actual net worth someone always changes it back to the false $300. Before her tragic death, Rivera's net worth was around $25 million. And over 2 years later it has estimated to about $32 million. Rivera's net worth has increased 7 million since her death. How would someone's net worth go from $25 million to $300 million in 2 years? People I know your Jenni fans and want her to stick out the most but not with the false information! Jenni Rivera's actual Net Worth is $32 Million: https://www.google.com/search?redir_esc=&client=ms-android-hms-tmobile-us&hl=en-US&safe=images&oe=utf-8&q=jenni%20rivera's%20net%20worth&source=android-browser-type&qsubts=1419360620147 Marielopez124 (talk) 18:55, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

@Marielopez124: Being a fan of Jenni Rivera or not has got absolutely nothing to do the discussion. You were changing her net worth without providing a reliable source hence why your edits have been reverted. Also, not Verifiability, not truth. In other words, Wikipedia goes by what reliable sources say not by what you think is true. If you do not provide a reliable source that her net worth is $32 million, then it will not be accepted. Simple as that. Otherwise you are pushing original research which is also not allowed in Wikipedia. Erick (talk) 19:46, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
@Marielopez124: I changed her net worth from 32 to 300 million, now the reason I did so was because some media outlets were reporting that her estate has risen from 25 to 300 million. I know not everyone thinks that can be realistic, but I do because since her death:
  • her album sales have soared
  • her sister Rosie Rivera (who is in charge of her estate) continues to release albums in her name,
  • apart from that her companies (Divina Realty, Divina Cosmetics, Jenni Rivera Fragrance, Jenni Jeans, Divine Music, and The Jenni Rivera Love Foundation), have expanded
  • the release of her movie just last year
  • 4 different bottles of tequila released in her name
  • the release of her autobiography Unbreakable: My Story, My Way
  • in September or November of this year her estate opened Jenni Rivera Fashion, which is boutique & online web-based store, that sells her items.
Here are four news articles that have been written recently (as of early December of 2014) that state her net worth has risen;(they're all in spanish)

In the death section of the article it says Because the plane was a US-registered aircraft, and had one U.S. American citizen on board (Jenni Rivera) the NTSB sent its team of investigators to assist their Mexican counterparts.[97]

However, Jacob Yebale, makeup artist, died on the flight with Jenni Rivera and was a U.S. citizen. Also, U.S. American citizen is redundant. U.S. citizen is adequate.

American to Mexican-American

I am going to change "Dolores Janney "Jenni" Rivera (July 2, 1969 – December 9, 2012) was an American singer..." to "Dolores Janney "Jenni" Rivera (July 2, 1969 – December 9, 2012) was a Mexican-American singer...". Wikipedia's Manual of Style section "opening paragraph", subsection 3, sub-sub section 2 states, "Ethnicity or sexuality should not generally be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability. Similarly, previous nationalities or the country of birth should not be mentioned in the opening sentence unless they are relevant to the subject's notability." Rivera's ethnicity is relevant to her nobility. Here are some articles that state that Jenni Rivera was a Mexican-American singer. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]Fundude99talk to me 02:50, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Nationality, not ethnicity, is part of the context (sub-sub section 1) that goes in the intro sentence - she's an American. Mexican-American is not a nationality. The lead already says "Mexican music genre" and that is the basis for her notability, not the fact that she has Mexican-American ethnicity. Other sources like to use ethnicity for bio descriptions, Wiki uses nationality. Her ethnicity is irrelevant to her notability, she is notable independent of her ethnicity and is notable for her artistic endeavors in the Mexican musical genre. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:52, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Mexican-American

She was a Mexican-American not just American, I have a reliable source (in Spanish) [12] that states that she held Mexican nationality, which is worth mentioning in the lead sentence. 70.124.179.116 (talk) 02:15, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
