As the character herself is open-source, it would be in the spirit of Jenny for an artist to release an image of her into the public domain for use on this site no?--LukeSurl 18:34, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Theoretically as any artist can draw the character the next friendly passing artist could sort one out. Then again it'd probably be worth dropping the site a line or contacting some of the creators directly (most people are always happy to help). (Emperor 13:37, 17 July 2006 (UTC))

For the record, if anyone uses my version of Jenny for the Wiki entry, I'd be OK with that and would give expressed permission to do so. (mine's the Crossing Over Worlds one). But its definetly not that Fancy. Since I've been talking with Nelson Evergreen (an early artist for Jenny) I'll ask him if its OK for us to use one of his images for the wiki entry. I've sure it'd be ok... I kinda think he might have been one of, if not THE first person to draw her to... I should check my notes. --Fesworks 00:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Talked to Nelson, He said he'd be fine with an image from his version being up here. However I guess I didn;t realize it might be a pain in the butt for the "paper work" to release an image. I don;t have time to read those long-winded things right now (and I'm not going to ask Nelson to waste his time to read over them), can't I just forward the e-mail to Wikipedia? If not, I'll have to look over again, but the GNU does not seem to apply to "images" because the last copyright notice at the bottom only says "Text" and "document" should it be modifed to say "Image"? Personally I think the title page (page 2) of the Damn Fine Hostile Takeover Part 2 would work best. No splicing needed. But I want to get this sorted out before I send all the data to Mr. Evergreen to "virtually sign". --Fesworks 20:09, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Anyone know what happened with the official site?

I've been trying to contact everyone on the creators page (as listed in the Archive.org site) and I have contacted the phone number and e-mail addy of the guy registered as the WHOIS of the site URL.

I sent an e-mail off to Steven Wintle last night and got a swift reply. It read, "Sorry about that. The server we had it on dropped us. We're in the process of sorting it out, but it may be awhile." Aww man, which e-mail did you use? because I was trying to contact him forever, and I have already started designing a new website :/ I suppose I'll try contacting him again now.... actually, if you could give him my address if you don't want to share his e-mail. I've been talking with Nelson Evergreen, and he was helping gather comics to put together a new site :/ I want to get things sorted if we can.

The e-mail can be found through the Archive.org site. You just need to go far enough back. The @jennyeverwyhere.com e-mail address doesn't work because jennyeverwhere.com doesn't exist at the moment. Just go back to the beginning, or close to it, and you'll find the original hotmail address. That's what I did. --Adam the Alien 04:33, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't think Jenny was the first...

I remember reading something about a Black Woman character that was also designed as an open source character. I'll look into that as well. I think Karen of Planet Karen was looking to do something with that character as well.... I'm unsure... I need to check my previous searches, I'm posting this to see if anyone else remembered. Added an Image

Too much work to figure out all the licensing for someone else. If people have an issue with this, edit it or let me know. I took it upon myself to draw my own image and release it. I release it here: http://fesworks.xepher.net/JENNY/CC-BY-SA.htm . As well as releasing it IN the image as well. I don't think I have the image box set correctly though. So I'm sure that it may need to be edited. I await flames if I deserve it, but I think what I did was OK. Just let me know if I'm in the wrong. --Fesworks 21:45, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

The Jenny Everywhere .com site is not up.

And has not been up for a long time. However, I have been working on a new archive and "home site" for Jenny for a few months now. I added it to the References. It's The Shifter Archive. I had talked to Steven Wintle (owner of JennyEverywhere.com ) and he was cool with it, and all for it. I could forward the e-mail as well.

Well, I was curious what the proper course of action would be? The site is non-profit, so its not like I'm trying to be deceptive here. The site is almost fully stocked with practically every instance of Jenny Everywhere that can be presently found. I'm just asking how we can properly direct people to the site so they can find what they are looking for.

I should state that I also have links to the original site (through archive.org's wayback machine) and the other sections as well. I even have half of the FAQs from the original site on The Shifter Archive's FAQ page (the 2nd half of FAQs were not relevant to the new site since I do not print any of the comics).

Anway, I would do something, but I wanted to let the pros here decide since I'm obviously bias. --Fesworks 01:31, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

External Links Updated

I updated some URLS, added some new links, especially the one in the New York Times. I added links to the comics that exist online outside of http://TheShifterArchive.com archives. Except for "The Late Shift" because it contains additional information on the character. Also Strip Fight, Round 5, which was a sort of webcomic strip competition... unsure about it's inclusion. Well, I put those under Resources.

I reorganized the links for much better usability and reference. I believe I was in the right. There are also a number of links to cameos I could add, but I wanted to hold back in case I was going overboard. Oh, I also could link to a collection of Jenny Everywhere art pieces, also found on The Shifter Archive... but again, I didn't want to go too overboard. --Fesworks 02:13, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
