Jeremy Lynch[edit]

Why does Jeremy Lynch redirect here, when Jeremy Lynch and Jeremie Lynch are different people?

Jeremie Lynch is a professional footballer from Victoria Town, Manchester, Jamaica. Whereas...

Jeremy Lynch is a Youtube personality and freestyle footballer, who does football skills with his partner Billy Wingrove as one half of the F2Freestylers, and is from London, England.

It's no wonder there's so many reverts on this article, along with a few incorrect name spellings of the freestyler in the media.

If no-one can be bothered to create an article for Jeremy Lynch the freestyler, then if it has to be redirected anywhere, then F2Freestylers should be the article it's redirected to. Danstarr69 (talk) 05:46, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Danstarr69: On his own, Jeremy Lynch does not currently appear to meet Wikipedia's notability criteria and does not have a standalone article. As for the redirect, it's standard practice to have likely alternate spellings for a name redirect to the main entry for that name, or, when there are multiple names that are the same or similar, to a disambiguation page. I don't think the redirect should be changed.
What you could do is change the hatnote on this article so that, instead of mentioning Billy Wingrove, it directs a reader to the F2Freestylers page. That page is fairly new and has a number of issues, but the change in the hatnote seems justified. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 06:36, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
'Jeremy' and 'Jeremie' are common misspellings (as you admit) - but feel free to change the hatnote if you wish. It's clear this article is about the Jamaican footballer, no excuse for editors changing it to be about the (non-notable) freestyler. GiantSnowman 08:33, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

— jmcgnh Giant I'm not really interested in this topic.

I came here as I was trying to find out what Jeremy's name was, and which F2 Freestyler was which, so I could add them to a list of people, to prove a point to someone.

I haven't bothered reading the notability guidelines yet, as I haven't created any articles yet, so haven't needed to.

However I'd disagree that Jeremy is less notable than Jeremie

Jeremy is way more "famous" than Jeremie, in my opinion, and I'm certain the football world would agree.

If you asked 10,000 random football fans across the world, who "Jeremie the Jamaican Footballer was," and then asked them "who Jeremy the F2 Freestyler was," I'm certain Jeremy the F2 Freestyler would win tenfold, hundredfold, or even more likely a thousandfold.

A quick search for Jeremie the footballer, on Google comes up with story after story about Jeremy the freestyler, along with mainly photos of Jeremy the freestyler, and Google even asks "Do you mean Jeremy Lynch?" Even when you try to narrow down the search to the footballer only by putting "Jeremie Lynch" in quotation marks, it still mainly talks about Jeremy Lynch the freestyler, and 13 of the first 27 photos are of Jeremy Lynch the freestyler.

It would be easy to collect enough independent stories about Jeremy Lynch the freestyler, to prove he's notable enough to have his own article, but as I said that won't be me creating that article. My first article will be about someone or something from my city, but that won't be for a few years yet. Danstarr69 (talk) 10:37, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:GNG for notability requirements for the freestyler. If you think he's notable then create an article. GiantSnowman 10:39, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
