Religion[edit]

I was under the impression that he is of jewish ancestry. Can anyone verify that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.1.129.100 (talk) 15:51, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, his memoirs delve into his Jewish heritage and upbringing and his books contain many Jewish characters and references. RavenQuoth (talk) 18:39, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So shouldn't he be included in the category Jewish American? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.1.134.20 (talk) 16:59, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I added several related categories RavenQuoth (talk) 22:00, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the material was added by a sock of a banned user, so I've reverted to an earlier version.   Will Beback  talk  01:13, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Will, the earlier version was a stub created a decade ago by Columbia University. I am Lenore Riegel, a fan of Jerome Charyn's. I researched and wrote the piece, used a helper to "code" it because it was my first wiki page. I am happy to provide the source you need of any line or word - I stand behind every single word. I am a lawyer and TV writer/producer (Court TV.) As you can see, I use the Wiki name RavenQuoth (because of my first name, Lenore.) Feel free to write or call - xxxxxxx (it's listed) or xxxx@gmail.com. As you can see, Jerome Charyn is an established author whose next book is being published in March by Yale Press, and whose last two novels were published by Norton and reviewed in the New York Times and NYRB (by Joyce Carol Oates.) OK, but you made a poor choice of "helper". Not your fault.   Will Beback  talk  23:56, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for understanding and intervening. Because of my respect for Mr. Charyn, I was afraid I would make many errors, so I relied on these "helpers." Never again. I keep the page current by adding new publications as they occur. I am also starting to use these hard-won skills, along with my research/sourcing expertise (after years of writing a 2-hour live daily news show) to benefit and expand other articles.
