Jesse EdwardsJesse Edwards (politician) – Per WP:NOPRIMARY. This article gets about 1 daily views. There is an artist with the same name, Jesse Edwards (artist), whose article gets about 2 daily views. There is also a musician with the same name (AllMusic). The base name should be a disambiguation page. 153.204.39.99 (talk) 14:16, 8 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 22:25, 17 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. I have no objection to the move to Jesse Edwards (businessman) or Jesse Edwards (entrepreneur). 153.204.39.99 (talk) 14:28, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: I have a suspicition that this person may not even be notable for an article. His infobox says he was notable for found Newberg, Oregon, while that article does not even mention him. --Gonnym (talk) 16:20, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nomination. No WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, although these links indicate that his historical notability is at least sufficient to maintain an article. As for the qualifier, "(city founder)", per Xezbeth, or "(mayor)" would also be good options.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 22:51, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • You did a google search which has out of the first 6 results this Wikipedia article, a Facebook page, a realty firm and one that is about "M. Lowell Edwards" and concluded that it indicates he has notability. Amazing deduction. --Gonnym (talk) 23:11, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the same google search is producing differing results when different browsers are used. The first page of results produced by my Safari browser displays the following nine entries:
1) http://www.hooverminthorn.org/history/jesse-edwards/
2) this Wikipedia article
3) the Wikipedia article Jesse Edwards House
4) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jesse-Edwards-House/105542806145119 the Facebook page for "Jesse Edwards House is a historic house in Newberg, Oregon, United States. Built by Jesse Edwards, the "Father of Newberg..."
5) https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/6178718/jessie-edwards [his gravestone indicates "JESSIE (1849—1924)"]
6) https://www.valleyrealtyprofessionals.com/newberg/ the realty firm which mentions the "Hoover-Minthorn House Museum – The oldest house standing in Newberg, it was built by Jesse Edwards, the founder of Newberg and was home to a young Herbert Hoover and Dr. John Minthorn, one of the pioneers of the city."
7) https://pamplinmedia.com/component/content/article?id=388764 which mentions that "... "Father of Newberg" Jesse Edwards bought an entire block."
8) http://www.newbergdowntown.org/history/history-of-downtown-newberg/
9) https://portlandtribune.com/nbg/144-features/311194-189618-tales-from-%60the-grubby-end-it-took-four-attempts-to-start-the-town-of-newberg- A variation upon no.7.
...At least sufficient to indicate notability. There are numerous additional pages.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 00:23, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No they aren't as most of them aren't good sources. Again, 4 is Facebook, 5 is find a grave (it lists everyone), 2+3 are Wikipedia articles, 6 is a realty firm, No. 7 and No. 8 mentions him in passing, No. 9 is a repeat of No. 7 from the same source (can't read the full one so no idea if they added more). Out of all this, 8 are not reliable sources to use in any article. Only the first hit has actual significance, but it just reaffirms my suspicion that his notability for being a "founder" (which this isn't even correct per the sources) of a city of ~20k population (which is extremely small) is barely there. --Gonnym (talk) 10:34, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since this is not an AfD discussion, there is currently no need for initiation of searches through Oregon historical sources for reliable particulars that merit being cited. However, doubts regarding notability may indeed be raised in view of the fact that, as noted, the contributors to the Newberg article did not make mention of him. If other Wikipedians have similar misgivings, the matter may be pursued further.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 15:13, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to Jesse Edwards (businessman) or Jesse Edwards (enterpreneur). I dug out a couple of sources which help establish notability (which is, granted, largely local), so I think an AfD is not needed. Although sources do refer to him as a "mayor", he's not on the official list. I think that "businessman" or "enterpreneur" best summarize his achievements. • Move to Jesse Edwards (city founder) per Xezbeth and Roman Spinner. The subject is best known and only notable for founding the city of Newberg as evidenced by the sources. His subsequent mayorship was just a result of that. Flooded with them hundreds 11:55, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak support If there are 3 and its not clear which one of the 2 that we have articles for is PT then a DAB probably is best as we can include a red and blue link (if possible) on the DAB. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:41, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
