I doubt that's the "official" flag. I doubt that Jessup even has an official flag. The borough's website makes no mention of one. What was shown is a generic banner placed on utility poles. A photo on the website shows this, and the banner says "Welcome to Jessup".

I don't have the stats on this, but from what I know about the town (my father and grandfather were born there), the first wave of immigrants in the 1890s were from Austria-Hungary (Galicia and Hungary). They were Slovak, Polish, Rusyn, Hungarian, and a few Jewish. Later, around 1915 or so, the Italians came. When the flu epidemic of 1919 hit, the Italians did not have a cemetery of their own and had to use the side of St. Michael's (Slovak) cemetery to bury their dead.
