Discussion about AdmirableHyo's version

Just saw this – I dont know where did you get an idea that just because her articles are constantly re-created by her hardcore fans, that this would made her more notable. No, she can have 50 drafts and that wont change anything about notability, its like you would create an article about yourself and then ask 10 of your friends to also create drafts about you despite being deleted by AfD, would that make you notable or something? About that "better" draft, there are multiplte trivial things in that article:

  • "On August 21, 2017 Jihyo performed in front of 200 fans for her melody project" – yeah and? This is like you would perform in a school project in front of schoolmates or something, what is 200 fans, nothing, it was not a full concert with only minor media coverage.
  • "On March 31, 2019, Twice was featured on Jounetsu Tairiku, a Japanese program that showed a documentary about their first Dome Tour where Jihyo represented her group" – trivial, its a regular whole group appearance on a TV to promote themselves, and this program is not even notable enough to have a wiki article apparently.
  • "On April 14, 2019, it was reported she donated 10 million won to help the victims of Gangwon Province Wildfire" – and? What kind of impact does this have? If this was just a random donation without significant effects, we dont include things like this for everytime when some celebrity donates a little bit of money for charity.
  • "On November 20, 2018, Jihyo revealed through their group's Instragram that someone hacked her Naver ID and tried to scam her mother by asking to wire 5 million won to their account while pretending to be her." – how is this notable and important?
  • And what the hell is "god Jihyo" in other names parameter? The only good thing about that draft is discography section with that 1 song which was missing before. About WP:SINGER #2, I believe this is for solo singers only, she collaborated with few other singers on this song which is basically a group/band again. Otherwise, you could also count Twice songs as WP:SINGER #2, because they charted and Jihyo was part of the group. Snowflake91 (talk) 09:59, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
@Snowflake91: I put those info because those are notable stuff that separates her from the other members and those are stuff that are good to know about her career.
  • Melody project - I added that bit because it's an activity that she did on her own that separated her from other members.
  • Jounetsu Tairiku - it's a Japanese program that has been going on since 1998. I'm sure with just the duration the program is running, we can say it's quite notable in JP. I will try to find a source about it. The show might have featured TWICE, but they mostly featured her as she told them about the dome tour journey and her life being TWICE's leader. It's also where other members (Sana, Momo, and Mina) talked about her as being their leader. EDIT: Here's the show's JP wiki page. It's been running for 20 years with 900 episodes: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%83%85%E7%86%B1%E5%A4%A7%E9%99%B8
  • Hacking incident - it may not be as big as her dating news but it's still something what was talked about. In fact, that's how her ranking in Nov 2018 got higher.
  • God Jihyo title = The field say "Other names" so I added it, because she's actually being called that from time to time by her fans. Not sure if there's an article about it to make that alias official, but if you find it uncomfortable you can skip it and read the rest of the article. I can remove it too when needed.
BP Rose's article consists of her collab with G-Dragon, endorsements, her instagram, and some comment from a voice critic from the PH and yet it's out there. TWICE Jeongyeon's page talks about her and song collab with her sister. What makes Jihyo's page different? I hope you can reconsider my draft. AdmirableHyo (talk) 14:55, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

@Snowflake91 and AdmirableHyo: I've moved this discussion from my talk page as it's mainly about the content of AdmirableHyo's draft article. -Zanhe (talk) 20:57, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

Publish

@Apples&Manzanas: Article looks okay now, I'm happy with supporting publisihng the article if you fix the following things:

  • Sources are duplicated – see on Mina how it should be done by using refnames
  • Dates consistency – currently there are multiple date formats in the article, i.e. "2019-09-21", "21 September 2019" and "September 21, 2019". Every date in the article should be the same format, including sources, infobox, lead section, career section etc., so if you want DMY (date-month-year) format, switch every single date through the article to this format, it cant be mixed.
  • Consistency in the references – for example, sometimes its "Special Broadcasting Service" (source number 8), while in other references from the same website its just "SBS" (source number 5). I suggest using "Special Broadcasting Service" everytime, it can also be wiki linked to Special Broadcasting Service. Snowflake91 (talk) 11:43, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. I haven't even finished drafting this one yet, haha. I still have more content to add. But I'll do that and then make those changes youve recommended too, and then publish. It's the Draft:Mina_(Japanese_singer) article that i said i was finished with, so give me your thoughts there. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 11:46, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
Regarding the comment about the SBS, I think SBS is better, because it's the name of the website. And SBS is always called SBS, in the same way that Australian Broadcasting Corporation is always called ABC in citations and the British Broadcasting Corporation website is always called BBC in citations. But I'll make that consistent. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 11:56, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
If those minor problems are fixed and you want to publish it its okay with me. I declined it last time but I'm happy to accept it now. You can always add more content after the page is published! Redalert2fan (talk) 11:52, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
Great news, thanks. Dumb question, but how would I actually publish it after the problems are fixed? Do I simply just move it? Apples&Manzanas (talk) 11:56, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
Press the blue "resubmit" button in the big red box. Then either I or someone else can review it. Redalert2fan (talk) 11:58, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
Done! I made the final changes i wanted to. The debut with Twice was poorly explained previously and i fixed that. I'm happy with the article now. Thanks for your help. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 14:00, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Article name

Should this article be titled "Jihyo" (which is how most people/sources refer to Jihyo), should we change the article title?

Which do you think is better? "Jihyo" or "Park Ji-hyo"? Apples&Manzanas (talk) 04:25, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

Someone moved from Sana (singer) to Sana Minatozaki without any discussion recently, same with Momo. Snowflake91 (talk) 11:05, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Well, it seems Sana's article has changed since the time i wrote this. Momo currently reads as Momo Hirai to me. What's your view? I think I prefer the article to be titled Jihyo, because that's how reliable sources generally refer to her. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 12:19, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Because I moved Sana article back to Sana (singer). I agree that it should be simply Jihyo, as "Park" is extremely rarely used in references, its only "Twice's Jihyo". Snowflake91 (talk) 12:29, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
I could not accept the draft as just "Jihyo" so it is "Jihyo (singer)" now. Maybe someone could try to move it and if that does not work a move request is needed. Redalert2fan (talk) 14:33, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
Is it possible to change this now that it is no longer a draft? Apples&Manzanas (talk) 14:33, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
Yes, you need to put request at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests under "Uncontroversial technical requests" that it should be renamed from Jihyo (singer) to Jihyo. Snowflake91 (talk) 14:42, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Increase protection?

This page seems to be getting vandalised a lot. It's confusing because it's only just been published, but vandalism/bad edits have been frequent already. May be worth upgrading the protection. At least, it's worth creating this section of the talk page. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 05:40, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

Sadly vandalism and unsourced claims are both very frequent on kpop related pages, I wouldn't say its more then the usual so far... -Redalert2fan (talk) 12:22, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
Can't that just be an argument for increasing vandalism protection on all K-pop articles? Apples&Manzanas (talk) 12:37, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
Not enough vandalism for now to request a protection, and they usually protect the page only for a couple of days so its useless, very few K-pop related pages are permanently protected, and those were vandalised literally every hour or so. Snowflake91 (talk) 12:41, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

Drmies' edits on jihyo

Drmies has made 3 reverts on a previously stable version in the span of a day, deleting large amounts of content. It would be good if editors not involved in this could weigh in. I have always believed in seeking consensus and do not believe this is how articles should be edited. It makes no sense to me why so many valuable sources which cover Jihyo as an individual should be deleted. This article went through a thorough review process, and I don't believe it should be drastically changed through edit warring over previously stable version without seeking any consensus. I would love to hear thoughts from other editors here. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 03:01, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

This section of the talk page is somewhat unnecessary now because the relevant discussion is happening at Talk:Chaeyoung#Drmies' edits. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 17:11, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
This article has been deleted like 2 or 3 times in the past because of those toxic "editors" who only like to erase information, instead of adding and contribute to it, specially Drmies and Snowflake91.
But I'm glad that the article is finally kept. --†_JuanPa_† (talk) 01:34, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
