Sources[edit]

I have removed the following paragraph:

  • Unfortunately, because of the coal mining industry the city is very polluted. [1]. China is worlds larest producer of Coal in the world with Shanxi producing a fourth of that output. [2]

No proper sources were given. The China Daily article (Wang Ying, Shanxi to auction off coal mines) doesn't even mention Jincheng. Personal experience is not sufficient as a source, see Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research. —Babelfisch 05:51, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will add sources that mention Jincheng. Have you ever been to Jincheng? If you have ever been there you KNOW about the pollution. I would like to find more sources that document the environmental degredation of Jincheng, but alas CHINA controls the media! You should understand that there are very little in the way of sources because of Chinese media restrictions. I'm sorry, my computer crashed while I was editing. You've re-inserted that paragraph with different sources:

This is not about my standards, it's about Wikipedia standards. Once again: Personal experience and knowledge is great, but not a valid source for Wikipedia articles. The first article you're quoting now (Jincheng Coal Mine Methane) doesn't say that Jincheng is very polluted. If you can't find a proper source, it probably means that it isn't relevant according to Wikipedia standards.
And I don't understand why you've replaced the source for the second sentence. The China Daily article (Shanxi to auction off coal mines) is a proper source and supports your statement, but the ChinaCSR article (Tranzcom To Increase Security In China's Coal Mines) isn't, because it doesn't support your statement. Or did you remove the China Daily article because you think Chinese media are not reliable?
You've suggested that the whole article should be deleted (User talk:Babelfisch#Recent Reverts[5]). I think that's quite ridiculous. You've also suggested arbitration.[6] I don't think arbitration is necessary, because the situation is very clear. I have made changes as this information was unsourced. I agree with that it's about Wikipedia standards so we need to have everything properly sourced. If you could please provide sources for that information it would be greatly appreciated. I have removed the sources because they could not be varified as most Wikipedia customers do not speak Mandarin. If you would please provide sources in English so they could be verified. Thank you and have a WONDERFUL day.—Mujkiller 12:38, 14 June 2007
The rules on verifyability and reliable sources here say that "English-language sources should be used in preference to foreign-language sources", but sources in other languages are not ruled out at all.
You personally might not be able to read Chinese and to "varify" these sources, but fortunately there are "customers" at Wikipedia who do know Chinese. I'm not the only one - there are hundreds, many are listed here.
If you doubt my linguistic abilities, you can tag the article and/or request additional opinions from other users, but please stop vandalising this article.[8]

You are vandalising also. You are angry because a city in your country is polluted, like 2/3 of them are. The problem with your country is that you have maleable people like you that are driven by Confuciani ideals of uncompromising worship and subjugation to the state. So coal mines do not cause air pollution? How does this not support my case "many scattered across the northern coal-rich province of Shanxi and China's northeastern rustbelt province of Liaoning, suffered "severe" air pollution, the paper said". I've removed the statements about pollution in Chinese cities. It's extremely broad and doesn't mention Jincheng. It mentions Shanxi, but that's just not relevant enough to merit inclusion.
