Resigning as an MP[edit]

In the same way that one does not simply walk into Mordor, one does not simply resign as an MP. There's a somewhat arcane procedure which takes a little time (Resignation from the British House of Commons) and its not currently clear if Johnson is going for this, or will simply decline to stand as an MP in the extremely likely upcoming election. Either way, describing him as a former MP is premature. --LukeSurl t c 11:12, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly, the description as a former MP and giving today as the end of his term as MP is extremely premature. There's no indication that he has taken the formal steps to resign from the House, and even some the sources quoted seem to expect him to remain an MP until the (likely) early election. 95.33.145.155 (talk) 11:44, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've tweaked it to clarify it's been announced rather than taken place. ——SerialNumber54129 11:50, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This needs to be urgently made correct (and maintained as such, possibly with the help of semi protection). This will be a very high traffic article. I'll be unfortunately AFK until the end of the workday. - LukeSurl t c 12:08, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article has been persistently vandalised since he resigned. I agree that it may need semi protecting Davethorp (talk) 13:08, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • It was - at 13:37. Alexf also had to redact many of the earlier pieces of vandalism from this morning. - SchroCat (talk) 13:12, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh. Does anyone actually read the history before posting here. ——SerialNumber54129 13:16, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
