Joe Kennedy's activity at Damajagua

Before Joe Kennedy's involvement at Damajagua tour guiding was a disorganized social activity. The presence of a large number of youth many untrained resulted in few actually making a living. Joseph Kennedy III → Joseph P. Kennedy III — News media commonly refer to subject using the initial. Namesake articles Joseph P. Kennedy II, Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., and Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. all use the initial, as do other similar articles about family members, for example Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. I think the only reason it wasn't created with the initial is that name was blocked off following AfDs before subject became notable in his own right. This JPK should be Joe IV and father Joe III, since his great-grandfather is Sr. and great-uncle is Jr. Thesomeone987 (talk) 00:16, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

No, because his father wasn't named after the great-uncle. He was named after the great-grandfather. Joseph P. Kennedy II and Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. were both named after the same person, so they each are the second in ther respective lines. —Designate (talk) 12:45, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Actually, all the JPK's were technically namesakes of Sr. if you really think about it. Even if this JPK's father wasn't named to specifically honor his uncle, he still shares his full name, and III is officially the next in line of Jr. when it comes to suffixes, even if Jr. isn't the father, so you are mistaken there (even though he is commonly known as II). This JPK's father would only be II if Joe, Sr. and Joe, Jr. had different full names and he had the same full name as Joe, Sr. and not the same full name as Joe, Jr. (i.e. if Joe, Sr. was Joseph Phillip and Joe, Jr. was Joseph Peter) or if he had the same full name as the uncle and not the same full name as the grandfather. You name for one, you name for all. Death has no impact on generational suffixes.
Examples of III's with the same names as Jr. uncles:
  1. Ulysses S. Grant III was the nephew of Ulysses S. Grant, Jr. and grandson of President and Union General Ulysses S. Grant
  2. Robert E. Lee III was the nephew of Robert E. Lee, Jr. and grandson of Confederate General Robert E. Lee
  3. John Jacob Astor III was the nephew of John Jacob Astor, Jr. and grandson of fur-trader John Jacob Astor
  4. Charles Francis Adams III was the nephew of Charles Francis Adams, Jr. and grandson of politician Charles Francis Adams, Sr.
  5. Richard Thornton Wilson III was the nephew of Richard Thornton Wilson, Jr. and grandson of banker Richard Thornton Wilson, Sr.
All these men share the same full name of their grandfathers AND uncles, thus are named to honor both.
Therefore, Robert F. Kennedy's son is Joe III, and RFK's grandson is Joe IV. Orphaned references in Joseph P. Kennedy III

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Joseph P. Kennedy III's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Joe Kennedy III's potential gubernatorial run in 2018

"Joseph P. Kennedy III is wildly seen as a Potential candidate for Massachusetts gubernatorial election, 2018." I think whoever wrote that part meant to say "widely" and not "wildly."  Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. I see "Kennedy" spelled correctly over a hundred times and not much sign of a misspelling. Unless this is a joke, please specify exactly which portion of the article contains the misspelling. Yeah, it should be delisted, if the top-line maintenance tag is accurate in its assessment. And either way, it seems rather under-detailed for a good article. Needs reassessment SecretName101 (talk) 06:29, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
