Dirtography

What does dirtography really mean? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.248.214.99 (talk) 00:02, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Mob vs. Mob

Can we have a source for this film, and Joe Pesci's co-starring therein? I can find no information about the film---IMDB has nothing---and I'd like to see a source for it, or I'm going to remove the sentence (which is very poorly worded, by the way). ---Charles 05:17, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

I removed it. There is no source whatsoever for this movie anywhere online or under any of the aformentioned actors pages. Totally unfounded rumor.
Thank you. I was hoping some information might come to light, but I am damned if I could find anything. An interesting rumor, but a rumor nonetheless. ---Charles 05:19, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

This article really needs to be expanded. A great actor such as Mr. Pesci deserves much more than a stub. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.255.239.107 (talk) 12:29, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Infobox

The infobox for this article seems to be broken. I can't figure out what's wrong. If someone figures it out, could they tell me what was wrong for future reference? yalbik 22:29, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

non-smoker

under trivia it stated that joe pesci's characters 'invariably' as in w/out any variance, smoke, but as one might recall, his portrayal of david farradine (sp?) in JFK was a chain smoker, and that's just off the top of my head; thusly i changed it to 'ususally' which still could use some verification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.227.13.148 (talk) 00:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

George Carlin

The quote about Carlin praying to Joe Pesci is wrong. This is what Carlin actually says

"You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Two reasons: First of all, I think he's a good actor, okay? To me, that counts. Second, he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't f*** around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with.

For years I asked God to do something about my noisy neighbor with the barking dog, Joe Pesci straightened that c***sucker out with one visit. It's amazing what you can accomplish with a simple baseball bat."

I didn't want to put it into the article because I wasn't sure if the vulgar language would be appropriate. Here's the source for this: http://www.celebatheists.com/index.php?title=George_Carlin -unsigned 12/12/06 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.247.5.223 (talk) 06:58, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

is pesci sicilian? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.230.57.245 (talk) 00:20, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Criminal psychopath...?

"Law-enforcement agencies have profiled Pesci, a psychopathic criminal."

I was about to delete this because it seems pretty ridiculous... can we get some sources on this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.32.25.92 (talk) 21:19, 4 March 2007 (UTC).

Real-life mobster?

In the trivia section there's quite a lot of negative notes about Joe Pesci, such as slapping Sharon Stone, being a school bully and assaulting Robert De Niro. This makes him look more like a mobster than an actor. Is this stuff true or is it just a silly attempt by someone who's prejudiced against Italians to make Joe Pesci look bad? If it's the former, then we need citations to prove it isn't vandalism. 88.11.125.218 15:50, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Id luv to find sources but I dont have time, from wat ive heard tho I remember in 1994, joe was actually charged in a big trial for that sexual assault thing, and i dunno bout u but he does play some pretti angry charcters n stuff id say hes pretty convincing coz hes a bit troubled himself. Ill try and find some sources — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.26.45.112 (talk) 18:43, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Wny not list all his famous friends

Reference to George Carlin listed under Joe Pesci personal life. I maybe reading to much into this, it seems like someone is desperate for all us to know that guy hates religion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.217.143.208 (talk) 15:07, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Decent Photo

Can somebody put a decent photo where half of his face is not covered by giant sunglasses & hat? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14:43, 18 February 2012 (UTC) (talk)

Fully agree. This photo is not appropriate neither typical — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.2.76.161 (talk) 16:31, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Tore up picture of Sinead O'Connor?

During his monologue, he restored a picture of Pope John Paul II, which had been torn by Sinéad O'Connor on the previous broadcast; he then tore up a photo of O'Connor, which was met with huge applause.

I just watched the monologue, and he did have a restored picture of the Pope, but he did not tear up a picture of O'Connor. Perhaps it is later in the broadcast, or didn't happen at all?

It certainly doesn't say he did it in the source. I've removed it ZarhanFastfire (talk) 05:35, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Italian - American vs. American

OK, his background is Italian, but does he have an Italian passport in order to be listed as "Italian - American actor"? Norum 22:42, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

"Italian American" just refers to Americans with Italian ancestors. It does not make a claim to their nationality 38.32.32.42 (talk) 16:49, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

Summary missing marriage?

Pesci has been married and divorced three times.[13] His first marriage was in 1964.[14]

Only two are referenced in his summary under his picture. Gprobins (talk) 12:55, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

The source in his personal life section states he was married three times, however, only the third marriage to Haro was his wife's name disclosed. Everhart was a partner and they had never married. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:23, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Change the picture?

Seems rather silly to use a photo where he has dark glasses on. You can't see his eyes at all, so it's hard to even tell that it is indeed him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.252.37.130 (talk) 18:36, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Agreed -- unfitting picture IMO. Hardly recognizable as Pesci. 188.30.101.88 (talk) 01:38, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

  • The image on this page is currently the only picture of Pesci on wiki commons. If a better image is ever uploaded (preferably with no shades) I would be in full support of changing the image. Iamreallygoodatcheckers (talk) 06:13, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

"Comedian"

I can find no reliable sources referring to Pesci as a "comedian." Appearing in comic roles, yes. But so did Marisa Tomei. So did Spencer Tracy. Appearing in comic roles does not make an actor a comedian unless sources say so, and, especially since this is a BLP, we need sources. We don't just decide someone is a comedian. We relate what others say. I'm removing the reference to him as a comedian from the lede and from the categories where he is included on the basis of OR. Coretheapple (talk) 18:00, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

IPs edit the page almost daily adding back "comedian". If this persists, I'll request protection. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 19:03, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
Agree. Coretheapple (talk) 19:36, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
@Coretheapple: I added some sources I saw at Frank Vincent's article about their early 70s comedy duo "Vincent and Pesci". Perhaps this is enough to warrant "comedian" in his list of occupations. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 20:49, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
@Vaselineeeeeeee: Hmmm...... well, that raises an interesting question. He was a comedian but that was many years ago. Do we say that in the lead? Looks like it was very short-lived. A bit analogous to Lou Costello being a prizefighter early in his career, but we don't say that in the lead. Same issue re the Vincent article too, which I haven't checked. Not sure. I lean against, though that's good stuff and belongs in the article. Coretheapple (talk) 22:07, 24 February 2020 (UTC) Sure enough the Vincent article doesn't refer to him as a comedian in the lead, nor should it. Coretheapple (talk) 22:08, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
I tend to also agree on the side of non-inclusion due to this being relatively short lived and in his early career (unlike music which he still does). I've sort of been neutral on the matter up until now (not always reverting IPs who add comedian). That being said, it would be optimal if we had a stable page by some formed consensus. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:11, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
No question about that. But if people won't participate in discussions, that's what happens. Coretheapple (talk) 22:32, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

@Ymblanter: Hi. I'm not sure that the pending changes, especially on a temporary basis, will be effective enough to combat the instability on this page and the burden it causes on editors reverting. User:Uncle Dick reverted several IPs in the span of 24 hours, and it will continue. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:56, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
I see three bad edits in 10 days (though indeed all of them within last 48h). This is normally a frequency approproate for pending changes. If it esclalates further, I will be happy to temporarily semi-protect.--Ymblanter (talk) 16:33, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
