"Schweppes company"[edit]

The article asserts that Jacob Schweppe founded the Schweppes company in Geneva in 1783. This cannot be correct because Switzerland did not have company law in 1783. According to Douglas A. Simmons //Schweppes The First 200 Years// ISBN 0 87491 536 8 (page 47) the firm Schweppes was not incorporated until February 1886.

"was not successful and failed in 1795"[edit]

According to Douglas A. Simmons //Schweppes The First 200 Years// ISBN 0 87491 536 8 (page 29) Schweppes had "achieved a solid basis of success", and had a "clear profit of £1200" in the year to 14 May 1798. That is the date on which Jacob Schwepp sold 75% of his business in London to H.W. Lauzun, F.C. Lauzun, and R.C.G Brohier, retaining an eighth for himself and an eighth for his daughter Colette. The firm did operate as "Schwepp and Company", but it was a partnership, not a company. Schweppe returned to Geneva, leaving the firm as a going concern.
