Nationality[edit]

  • The Act of Union made Ireland part of the UK. The "south" of Ireland became the Irish Free State in c.1922 (ceasing to be part of the UK). Northern Ireland was created and remains part of the UK. Although born on the island of Ireland (as part of the United Kingdom) Lord Atkinson was very much British, sitting as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in the UK House of Lords and being a Unionist.Counter-revolutionary (talk) 18:27, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
