corrected some really bad grammar in "Life and career"[edit]

I just edited the "Life and career" section - inserted what was apparently a missing word or 2...... Alienburrito (talk) 05:38, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What? Bad grammar on WP? How is that possible? Certainly you're thinking of some other massive user-edited online encyclopedia.  ;?) AndyFielding (talk) 02:06, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Make-up" vs. "makeup"[edit]

As far as I know—okay, I've checked Merriam-Webster and Random House, and they agree—the most established spelling of makeup, in the cosmetics sense, is one unhyphenated word. Make-up is acceptable, but appears at the ends of those dictionary entries under "also". I see make-up (hyphenated) most often used to refer to something that substitutes for a prior event, e.g. "make-up work". I suppose WP uses the hyphenated version because it was the form the term's first contributor knew. If you ask me, though, makeup artist looks polished, while make-up artist looks colloquial. – AndyFielding (talk) 02:04, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
