Removed sentence[edit]

Interestingly, Faulkner, a member of the Party's minority Left Faction, was still able to defeat right-wing 'heavy-weights' such as Rann and Crean, demonstrating his immense personal popularity within the party.

I've removed this sentance. I didn't think it added much, and I think it's OR. The rank and file is considerably to the left of most of the elected representatives, and it's long been known that Faulkner is popular, so it's no surprise that he won. Father of the Australian Senate[edit]

I think John Faulkner will become Father of the Australian Senate on 1 July 2014. This is based on the current Father Ron Boswell announcing he will retire [1] (which would be effective 30 June 2014) and 42nd Parliament Handbook [2] showing John Faulkner as the second longest continually serving Senator (with Julian McGauran being out of parliament 1990-1993). The Election 2010 info at AEC [3] shows John Faulkner was re-elected to the Senate for 6 years from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2017. Djk20 (talk) 01:04, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. But we don't add it to the article until then. StAnselm (talk) 01:07, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox mess[edit]

Not being a fan of Infoboxes, with the clutter that is in this article a perfect example of why, I don't know how to best tackle the fact that the Infobox says Faulkner is still "Minister for Defence". Can someone into this stuff please update it? HiLo48 (talk) 02:51, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
