Found this fun quote: John I. Beggs, the General Manager of the Milwaukee traction trust at the time, and concededly the shrewdest financier and dividend maker which the utility corporations have supplied in Wisconsin in recent years, gave out the following to the morning press of Milwaukee on November 24, 1907, in response to a request for a Thanksgiving Day statement : “I am thankful that traction affairs in the City of Milwaukee have gotten into the hands of the Railroad Commission of Wisconsin, an efficient body of men, free from local prejudice and capable of judging what is right. “It is the best thing that ever happened to The Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Company. It will insure to the company fair treatment and to Milwaukee the best service we can give at a fair rate. “The report of that commission after its hearing on conditions regarding the City of Milwaukee here was the best bill of health ever received by a public utility corporation. suggestion[edit]

Perhaps this article would be greatly improved by omitting the list of directorships. If the number is notable, you could give the number, or something like

Name of most prominent company--Which i think would be North American Company

Name of the second, if notable, which in this case might be Briggs and Stratton

and 45 others.

(almost all of which are regional, & included in the article. I've written a medium-long general discussion about by feelings on biographies, at User:DGG/bios DGG 01:48, 23 December 2006 (UTC) DGG 00:23, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems a whole bunch of the regionals got rolled into Wisconisn Power and Light

maybe there is a better way to show this.

Beggs Isle[edit]

may be sourced, but is it notable. A person has to be notable indeed to make his summer vacations noteworthy, or at least the vacations have to be noteworthy. I do not want to delete while people are away, because there might be a good argument for retaining it. (or for the list of directors)DGG 08:31, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, I think it adds humanity to the main subject and itself is a place on a map. If anyone in the area wanted to know, why is that Island named that, this would be the source.

I deleted the material about the 47 individual directorships, the grandchildrens' accomplishments (they have their own articles) and some extravagent adjectives. DGG 05:53, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Neither Suzie or John has their own articles, they did at first but were speedily deleted. Ugh.

Grandchildren[edit]

Suzie and John do not have pages yet, and Ithought if we got enough here, we would have them stand on their own. THanks again. My source from the period says it was 53 companies. I will cite it.

My thought on the other company list was to link to the surviving entity and end up only leaving the ones that were still notable today. (those with promise of a wiki link) User:BMcCJ

Director and Officer[edit]

It is my hope that all the companies will link to their notable current company or successor and that in time those with no links will be either commented out or removed...
