Independent or Republican?[edit]

Cong Bioguide it says he ran as a Republican for Congress. Anyone have any other sites? Any other info as to the nature of the contesting? -- Sholom 21:12, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First to hold public office?[edit]

The article on Alexander Twilight says that he was the first African-American to hold public office (Vermont legislature). But the List of African-American firsts says that distinction belongs to Langston, who came along much later than Twilight. This site supports the claim for Twilight. Can anyone shed some light on this? Awbeal 14:37, 28 February 2007 (UTC) Langston was elected in 1855, and records seem to indicated Twilight was elected in 1836. The distinction belongs to Twilight it seems, however, the fact does not diminish the deeds of these two pioneers. Davhenry 15:21, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

General organization[edit]

This article consists of two separate sections that contain a lot of the same information. Is this an error? It seems that a lot of the text could be pretty easily consolidated. Flyte35 (talk) 23:58, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pamunkey[edit]

Is there a citation tracing Langston's mother to the Pamunkey tribe? What I found in a brief search only suggested the connection but was not definitive. I ask, because it is important the claim be verifiable based on reliable sources and not original research. Smmurphy(Talk) 00:29, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
