Peter Collins' claims that John Murray's election as Speaker was illegal[edit]

"Even though he became Speaker as a result of his party holding majority government, Liberal Opposition Leader Peter Collins made issue of Murray's election as Speaker stating that Murray's election as Speaker was illegal since ALP members had made it known beforehand that they were going to vote for Murray as Speaker."

Collins made that claim as I remember reading from a newspaper article at the time.

I was a schoolboy at the time and it was before Wikipedia.

It is therefore unreasonable for this fact to be removed all because I didn't take note of it at the time.

It is unreasonable to expect me to have foreseen Wikipedia.

I also do not believe that WWGB should be editing this article because I believe he has little or no knowledge about the subject matter for him to be qualified in editing it. Having said that I have look through Trove to see I could find a contemporary article on this but no look. I will now try to contact them to see if they can help me out on this. If someone else can find such a source I would appreciate it. 49.3.72.79 (talk) 13:01, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@49.3.72.79: Your personal recollections are irrelevant. Per WP:Verifiability, all contentious material must be supported by reliable independent sources. Also, please assume good faith and do not make unfounded and uninformed criticism of another editor. WWGB (talk) 01:37, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly I have interpreted your response as a personal attack on me. Therefore I ask that you stay away from me.49.3.72.79 (talk) 08:17, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I will leave it to others to determine who launched an attack (“I also do not believe that WWGB should be editing this article because I believe he has little or no knowledge about the subject matter for him to be qualified in editing it.“) WWGB (talk) 09:38, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
