Use of term "friendly fire" in lead paragraph.

The use of the term friendly fire in the lead paragraph of the article on Lt. Fox appears to be incorrect, especially after following the link to the article on "friendly fire". This was not an accident or a mistake, but rather a deliberate action called for by Lt. Fox as the only way to defeat the attack then in progress against his position. This was pointed out by the supporting artillery unit, and the coordinates for the fire were confirmed by Lt. Fox, knowing what the likely result would be. Recommend changing the lead paragraph to:

John Robert Fox (May 18, 1915–December 26, 1944) was killed in action when he deliberately called for artillery fire on his own position in order to defeat a German attack in progress in northern Italy during World War II. He belatedly received the Medal of Honor in 1997.[1]

rather than the current:

John Robert Fox (May 18, 1915–December 26, 1944) was killed in action by friendly fire in northern Italy during World War II. He belatedly received the Medal of Honor in 1997.[1] 76.114.18.58 (talk) 05:37, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Joe

I agree and I think the link to friendly fire needs to be moved. I have research his story and there is no mention of friendly fire nor does the US goverment consider this act bravery to be considered suchJacob805 (talk) 18:44, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

"Citation Needed" when it's in the actual MoH Citation

I'm removing those citation needed marks. When the reference is the MoH citation itself there's really no need, and it speaks to a certain lack of self awareness that those would be even added. 50.152.252.219 (talk) 19:09, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

John Fox

I feel it should be noted that Fox did indeed knowingly call in an airstrike on his own location knowing that he would be killed because he realized too late that where he was located had been infiltrated by too many German soldiers. Furthermore his courage as has happened many times in the past and continues today was unheralded because he was black. Medals and acknowledgement came years later. I just learned of this man today from a dang Tik Tok video! Det.MazaE (talk) 11:01, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
