Which college[edit]

The Catholic Encyclopedia has him attending "St. John's College at Fordham". This must be the St. John's College, then in the Bronx, that was the forerunner of St. John's University (New York City), since relocated to I believe Brooklyn. The Catholic World has simply "at Fordham" throughout, hence the article now says Fordham University. It's possible that the two combined and re-separated and that that is therefore accurate, but the discrepancy merits investigation, because they may have been separate institutions. According to the Fordham University article, "St. John's College" was the original name of Fordham. The Fordham website says it was changed to "Fordham" in 1907. [1]. It does not seem to be related to the current St. John's University (New York City), which was founded in Brooklyn (not the Bronx) as the "College of St. John the Baptist" in 1870, according to our article. Both Catholic institutions, one was in the New York Archdiocese, the other in the Diocese of Brooklyn.

I'm going to alter the article to show that he attended Fordham before it changed its name. (The Catholic World article was written well after Hassard's death.) BMK (talk) 17:02, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
