In January 2014 Johnson & Johnson removed two potentially harmful chemicals, formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane from more than 100 baby products after facing consumer groups pressure.

On October 31, 2015, Johnson & Johnson was sent a letter by The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics that was signed by 25 medical groups ordering them to remove the carcinogen chemicals from their baby products. Studies have found that their baby shampoo and baby powder contain two very dangerous chemicals not only to babies but adults as well, these chemicals are: Formaldehyde which is known to cause eye, skin and respiratory irritation and has been linked to leukemia as well. The other chemical is 1,4-dioxane which is a brain toxin that can cause many damages to the central nervous system, kidneys, and even the liver. Johnson & Johnson are moving very slow in removing these carcinogen chemicals in their products and have produced some products without them: however, they do cost a lot more than usual.

Johnsons baby products[edit]

I am currently a Sonographer in East London South Africa offering obstetric services to our patients including 4d scans. I am a mother of 4 children and only used J and J products on my babies. I wish to provide my patients with a J and J baby product sample at their ultrasound scan to encourage them to purchase only these products. Please could you provide me with samples?
