This person will be a presenter at Wikimania, and as such we can expect this article to get more traffic than usual. Now would be a great time improve if possible, and make sure everything is accurate! Brassratgirl 20:18, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Added descrîption of Zittrain's Cyber law course at NYU. Felt this elaboration affords an invaluable insight into his latest thoughts on the internet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.165.95.5 (talk) 01:02, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added Zittrain's Oxford college. Given the collegiate nature of Oxford University, this is an essential component of any discussion of his position there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.165.95.5 (talk) 14:37, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathan Zittrain's rock musician brother

[edit]

I propose a mention of Jonathan Zittrain's famous brother at the end of the "Family and Education" section. Does the wiki community approve of this addition?

"Jonathan's brother Jeff is an accomplished rock guitarist, with accolades including a 4 star review in the All-Music Guide and a song placed in the series finale of NBC-TV show "Ed." He currently leads the "Z-Trane Electric Band."

Jeff Zittrain fulfills criteria #1 and #10 for notability of the Criteria for musicians and ensembles.

Supporting citations:

Regarding #10: NBC-TV show ³Ed² used Jeff Zittrain's composition and performance of ³Lullaby² in its series finale.

Shall we add this mention to the article?

--Tazerfish (talk) 23:19, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No I don't think so. I could be wrong of course but checked the top five pages of Google results for brother Jeff, as well as these sources--they don't mention the subject of this article, with the exception of one blog. If you have a source accepted in WP:CITE that says who Mr. Zittrain's siblings are (all of them) that would make sense here. —SusanLesch (talk) 03:09, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--Is the issue whether we can prove they are actually brothers? If there is another impediment to including this mention, please specify. I will search for a source that lists Jonathan Zittrain's family members --Tazerfish (talk) 20:03, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

-- It looks like notability has been established here based on multiple criteria, so I'm adding the proposed blurb to the Jonathan_Zittrain page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.106.28.36 (talk) 19:21, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tazerfish, yes, the article would need a source per WP:CITE. I removed a paragraph about a rock band for now (it had no source). If people are interested in this article, it also needs updating as Prof. Zittrain will be or already did return to Harvard from Oxford. —SusanLesch (talk) 19:31, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

-- It looks like the unsigned contributor above added a reference to his brother, but didn't add the citations I listed above. I added the first two citations listed above as external links. SusanLesch, do my citations conform to WP:CITE? Can you show me how to cite properly?--Tazerfish (talk) 23:25, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, they look good. All Music Guide is plenty and you could omit the second ref. Template:Cite web from this page for Wikipedia:Citation templates will help you format the citation (there is no correct way, just follow whatever the article does). Still need something (anything stable and trustworthy other than that blog) that says they are brothers. Thanks. —SusanLesch (talk) 00:29, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

South African?

[edit]

I thought I heard he was South African on The Colbert Report. Does anybody know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.225.209.234 (talk) 02:20, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I saw him on Colbert the day Firefox 3 came out. No he is American. -SusanLesch (talk) 03:39, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
