Madraiwiwi - Cakobau's great-great grandson or great-great grandnephew?[edit]

I have restored "great-great grandson" as he is a descendant of Cakobau's, though not through the male line. The descent is as follows:

1. Cakobau

2. Adi Asenaca Kakau Vuikaba - daughter of Cakobau

3. Adi Litiana Maopa - daughter of (2)

4. Ratu Joni Atonio Rabici Doviverata - son of (3)

5. Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi

Yes, he is both though, because he is also descended this way:

1. Ratu Vuibureta - paternal uncle of Cakobau (above)

2. Ratu Kamisese Kapaiwai Mara - first cousin of Cakobau (above)

3. Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi I - first cousin once removed of Cakobau AND [second cousin & husband of Adi Litiana Maopa]

4. Ratu Joni Atonio Rabici Doviverata - first cousin twice removed & great grandson of Cakobau

5. Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi - first cousin thrice removed & great great grandson of Cakobau

AND this way

1. Adi Loaloakubou - half-sister of Cakobau

2. Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi I - nephew of Cakobau

3. Ratu Jione Atonio Rabici Doviverata - grand-nephew of Cakobau

4. Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi - great grand nephew of Cakobau

There could be a few other less well known lines of descent due to the inter-marriages and remarriages occasioned by death of previous partner, extra-marital affairs and particularly the acceptance of Christianity (because the secondary wives mostly remarried).

Sources?[edit]

This is a good, quite complete article about a very interesting person, and I would like to write an article in the French Wikipedia about Madraiwiwi, but... the article in English is almost entirely unsourced. Would anyone know of any sources to back up much of its content? Aridd (talk) 10:00, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've put together an article in French with the source I could find. I've left out any information for which I couldn't find sources. Some of the sources I've found and used could be useful for the English article. Aridd (talk) 14:43, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, these pages migt be useful to explain blood relationships to other chiefly households: 1)http://members.iinet.net.au/~royalty/states/fiji/vunivalu.html; 2)http://members.iinet.net.au/~royalty/states/fiji/nayau.html AND 3)http://members.iinet.net.au/~royalty/states/fiji/rokotuibau.html Tukutukudina (talk) 07:43, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
