the best known[edit]

how can you say definitively that somebody is the best known anything?

Thank you for who ever raised the above question - I just wish to add surely, the honour of being the best known of modern Brazilian writers actually belongs to Paulo Coelho? Titles of books[edit]

Shouldn't the titles of Amado's books be given in English, both in this article and in the books' individual articles? Many have been available in English translations for a long time, and MoS says to use an English translation of the title even if the book hasn't been published in English (Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(books)#Title_translations). I can work on the change if no-one opposes. The template would have to be revised, too.

I also wonder about the necessity of having stubs for every one of his books. I'm not familiar enough with Amado's work to know if every one is individually notable, but some of the stubs don't really seem to indicate that they would be. Are there some that could just be mentioned in the bibliography and text of the main article?--Cpastern (talk) 15:53, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the MoS is clear enough on the titles that I'm going ahead with moving the book articles to their English-language titles. Then I'll come back and change the text and links here in the Amado article. Cpastern (talk) 17:27, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Book Covers[edit]

I've been trying to upgrade the coverage of Amado's books recently and would like, in the process, to illustrate some of the articles with illustrations of the covers, which I have already done for Tieta and Tereza Batista: Home from the Wars and will do for The Violent Land. Unfortunately my other book covers are too worn to scan. Some of the Avon Books covers are very colourful. If anyone can assist, please upload the files to Wikipedia and either let me know or insert the photos into the relevant articles. You can copy the non-free-use rationale from File:TerezaBatista Cover1.jpg. Thanks Roundtheworld (talk) 11:27, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
