If mention is going to be made of the racist cops getting arrested, how about mention of the racist mayor?

Thanks for providing that source. A colleague added similar content about 7 hours later.
However -- and even tho my PoV is that racist psychology on the part of police and mayor are evident and causal in these events -- i urge on you the editorial philosophy that our PoVs on that are irrelevant to our work here, and (until EEGs are accepted as verifying attitudes present inside brains -- and racists get maneuvered into taking EEGs hoping to prove their hearts are pure!) WP is going to report not on racism, but on charges of racism, irrespective of our own PoVs. For now, what we have is news of circumstances that provoke charges of racism, and what we document is circumstances and charges.

Protect this page?[edit]

Given the current excitement, ought we to protect this page for a month or two? Paul, in Saudi (talk) 07:54, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't be done unless and until it actually becomes hard to control PoV warriors or vandals. But mentioning it as you have may help to deter such misbehavior. Thanks!

I protected the article as it's getting enough unhelpful attention to warrant protection. I figure two weeks should be about long enough. Acroterion (talk) 23:18, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Biased Language in the Article[edit]

"in wake of racism problems" Does this not imply guilt? 67.191.229.183 (talk) 04:22, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The text says, "... especially in the wake of the recent racism problems". The FBI arrested four member of the police department for racist conduct.[1]   Will Beback  talk  05:02, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Suggestion : I would reword "especially in the wake of the recent racism problems" to "especially given the nature of the investigation he was commenting on." Best, Markvs88 (talk) 16:54, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
All in all, I say let it sit for a week or two. The story is still developing and we ought not to be tracking each and every day. Let some time pass to see what is important about this recent incident. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 07:58, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vietnam War service[edit]

Although Maturo Jr. served in the navy during the Vietnam War era, no reliable sources found as of yet state that he served in Vietnam. Accordingly, Category:American military personnel of the Vietnam War was removed from the article for now until a reliable ref is found. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 01:11, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
