Highly regarded by students as one of the best professors at UofT[edit]
His business classes were the shit! Legendary! A self-made millionaire that went back to academia. I imagine he taught for pleasure and not a paycheck (he probably didn't need it). He taught us how the world really worked, not wrapping anything in politically-correct bull. A true businessman following vocation to pass on the knowledge, not some theoretical academic teaching from equally-uninteresting politically-correct textbook. His course was spread over 2 semesters. 1st semester was mandatory and initially most of us didn't want it ("We're engineers, we want to do cool shit with science!" Money orientation, business, banking and wearing a suit-and-tie had no appeal to us). But that quickly changed after getting a taste of his lectures. Come the 2nd semester (which was optional) most people flooded into it and many of those who couldn't due to course conflicts made an effort to at least attend his lectures "illegally" (I was one of them).
Looking back, his classes were the most valuable part of the entire Chemical Engineering program at UofT. I visited UofT a few years ago when I was in town, knocked on his office door but unfortunately he was away. I wanted to just shake his hand and thank him for all he's done for me - even though he probably doesn't know my name. I'm just one of thousands of faces taught by him, thousands whose lives he changed at least a little, and many (such as mine) more than just a little. 5.173.65.221 (talk) 00:33, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
