Birth and death dates != stated age at death.74.76.33.154 00:34, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is the first time I've ever noted incorrect info on Wikipedia, but the image used in this entry is not of Joseph Mitchell the writer, but of a like-named individual who was the city manager of a town in New York State. It is identified as such when you click on the photo, so someone should replace it with a picture of Mitchell the writer. Unbelievable. --yrs, Chris Morris, Los Angeles — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:AB90:1090:8840:2586:4499:DD93 (talk) 23:04, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. I removed the photo. Meanderingbartender (talk) 02:16, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Myearsarebent.jpg[edit]

Image:Myearsarebent.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Too much original research[edit]

The theory that Joe Gould suffered from writer's block (as opposed to just being a bum) and that Mitchell's own lack of productivity was somehow caused by his work on Gould is interesting, possibly true, but presented here with no support whatsoever. I think it all needs to go.KD Tries Again (talk) 05:28, 10 April 2010 (UTC)KD Tries Again[reply]

Information about writers block[edit]

I dont wanna be the bossy kind of guy, but how can someone get away with 32 years of not producing anything? Assuming the info is right and that he a) worked excluslivly for The New Yorker and b) he worked there until 1996. Is there more to it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.135.124.106 (talk) 18:38, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography[edit]

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section using cite templates. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. ISBNs and other persistent identifiers, where available, are commented out, but still available for reference. This is a work in progress; feel free to continue. Blurbs[edit]

I've deleted two blurbs that are superfluous in an encyclopedia article. 850 C (talk) 16:51, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
