Josh Simpson (Canadian soccer) → Josh Simpson (Canadian soccer player) – The current disambiguator is very ambiguous.

While there exists a sport known as Canadian football, there isn't one that is called "Canadian soccer". And even if there was, it wouldn't have much to do with Simpson, because Simpson is a Canadian who plays soccer.

See here for my rationale about why explanatory descriptions should be preferred to keywords (Josh Simpson (Canada, soccer)) as far as disambiguations are concerned. --Theurgist (talk) 12:23, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Support: Here's another one of those WP:ENGVAR and WP:TIES issues. The disambiguation term that is generally used for these types of articles is "footballer", as in Josh Simpson (English footballer). However, since the Simpson we are discussing here is Canadian, we need to "translate" it into common Canadian English: "soccer player". Zzyzx11 (talk) 05:01, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
