More material[edit]

I added some relevant material that was in the article Peace and war in Judaism. I don't have time to format it perfectly right now, but I thought I would at least insert it so the ball got rolling. I'm not sure if the material should be left in Peace and war in Judaism, or reduced to a summary with a "see also" link here? --Noleander (talk) 13:10, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would say that anything relating to the topic and subject of peace per se should be brought over here, as that would reduce confusion and allow the subject of violence to get its own clear treatment. It's very hard trying to synthesize "peace and war" and squeeze it into one "combined" article when there is so much to say on each. Eventually, perhaps, there could be a summarization sort of article or just a disambiguation. IZAK (talk) 02:23, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why not wait for the AfD to close???[edit]

Noleander - Why not wait for the AfD on J&V to close before creating more topics of a "Judaism & _____" nature??? This is not a case of "I like it" or "I don't like it" but rather the same problem that has been plaguing J&V, PW&J, and J&Bs - an intersection of topics creating an unencyclopedic topic. You are linking together in this article: King Solomon, Menachem Begin, the world Shalom and content of Jewish prayer!

Now as you have shown in the similar AfDs to this, you view my above claim as illegitimate. That's fine. But why could you not have waited a few days to let the current AfDs close and the community to try and reach a consensus before creating more controversial articles?? • Hi Joe: It was not Noleander who "created" the article, what he originally did was to create a redirect from this topic to Violence and Judaism, see this article's history which I have pointed out a few times is contradictory in terms and scope. So therefore it was me who started with an outline of a more complete article on the topic focused purely on Judaism and peace, and included relevant topics. Noleander then added more material which I then copy-edited. I think this is the start of a very good and important article, feel free to improve it. IZAK (talk) 10:04, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
IZAK, thank you for weighing in. My point hold true regardless of how it came to be. This article suffers from that same problem as J&V, PW&J, and J&Bs as I said above. All three of them went up for AFD. One closed as delete, one as no-consensus and we are still waiting on the third close. I'd suggest holding on this article until the other AFDs close. "Guidelines from the Torah to the 'Jewish Way to Fight a War'" section[edit]

The "guidelines" listed in this section are really gross oversimplifications of the actual rules. For example, the specific prohibition against burning down the trees of an attacked city is generalized as "Preserve the Ecological Needs of the Environment." There's is really nothing in any text suggesting that this has anything to do with protecting the environment. In fact, this is probably not the case. Could somebody address this section more thoroughly? Dtm1234 (talk) 18:59, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Jewish prayers" section[edit]

It is unfortunate that a quick search for the word 'peace' in the List of Jewish prayers and blessings turns up no occurrences MRothwell (talk) 16:35, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
