It is incorrect to include Steve Fossett in the list since he was NEVER holder of the Jules Verne trophy and never will (may he rest in peace). His name needs to appear in the record for the fastest circumnavigation but NOT the Jules Verne since he never entered the trophy.

I can go along with that, but it is also wrong to completely ignore Fossett's circumnavigation record. People come to the article looking for a list of the yachts achieving the fastest times. There is no article about the fastest circumnavigation other than this one. Omitting Fossett's time with Cheyenne completely because he didn't pay the entrance fee is akin to whitewashing history like "The Ministry of Truth" in Nineteen Eighty-Four. The article even mentions teams and boats THAT HAVE NOT YET PAID ANY FEE OR SET SAIL OR EVEN HAVE A BOAT YET, but it omits Fossett and Cheyenne who really did set a circumnavigation record. I'm going to add it back as a footnote only.--Paul (talk) 01:00, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Steve Fosset is recorded in the around the world sailing record article as the record holder at the time. But he does not have his place here, since he never got the trophy.Prokofiev2 (talk) 09:42, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Banque Populaire V isn't finished yet. I know this will be outdated soon, but it's Day 42 and they're still going Wavy (talk) 11:54, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
