Disputed inline "Supported range" and "Resonating"[edit]

With respect to the disputed inline "Jung has over 3 octaves vocal range of F#2 ~ C#6[citation needed] and been praised by many vocal critics for his wide supported range and the ability to resonate notes without tension.[citation needed]":

Not only is there no citation used, the term "supported range" does not exist in vocal pedagogy and is a priori nonsensical and contradictive. You won't be able to find a reliable source (anyone with education in vocal pedagogy, such as vocal coaches, voice teachers, professors, scientific evaluations, text books etc) that uses such a term.

Same applies to the claim that he is known for his "ability to resonate notes without tensions": Not only is it not sourced, and the used language non-scientific, the content is nonsensical. Every sound "resonates". And every "note" "resonates" as it inter alia naturally passes through several resonators, it's not scientifically possible to sing without resonance. The amount of resonance can vary though, however, only gola aperta singing, as used in opera, produces really big resonance, and Jung does not apply a gola aperta technique, he is a contemporary singer. Also, you can't sing with "no tension" at all, you can only sing without unhealthy tension. I agree that Jung has a healthy singing technique, but the used terminology is non-scientific and basically incorrect (and additionally unsourced). Also, the claim that being able to "resonate notes without tension" is something notable is a little weird, as tension does not increase (or "create") resonance. Space increases resonance (by increasing the space the sound has to reverberate by increasing the space in the vocal tract by dropping the larynx and raising the soft palate (which is btw something Jung does not do). It's not more difficult to "resonate" with less tension than with more tension.

I'm not a person who likes to remove content added by others, and I fully respect this talented singer, but at least a tag is definitely needed here. Kind regards, Stimmbildung (talk) 10:37, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
