Former callsign of KHOG-TV?

I was a student at the UofA from 1982-85; I don't believe KTVP was KHOG-TV's callsign at that time. I don't remember what it was, but IIRC it wasn't KTVP (even though the FCC's database says it was) and it wasn't KHOG-TV (KHOG was still being used in radio at the time). Nor am I confusing it with KHBS itself (the "40" side of 40/29). Does anyone else remember what the "29" side went by at that time? --RBBrittain 23:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

__ I have been working for KHBS/KHOG since 1978. The FCC database is correct. The callsign of channel 29 was KTVP when I was hired and it remained KTVP until it was changed to KHOG. I still have a jacket in the closet with KTVP-TV on the back! I wonder if you aren't confusing channel 29 with channel 24. Role In 9/11

I'm not sure about this section as it relates to the station. The way it sounds, the station had no role in the shooting of this photograph, nor did a station employee. It may deserve an article of its own, but I just don't think it belongs in this article. Amnewsboy 11:49, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

• I still have the picture that was on the front page of the Los Angeles Times. It is clearly marked "Carmen Taylor, KHBS/KHOG." I understand that Carmen Taylor's husband, Lynn, worked in the station's sales department; and they were in New York City on September 11, 2001. It looks like Carmen was in a hotel room in Lower Manhattan that overlooked the World Trade Center and from that vantage point, Carmen got to shoot the photograph of United Airlines Flight 175 hitting the South Tower during the September 11 attacks. Carmen then sold the picture to the Associated Press. As you implied, KHBS/KHOG was not directly involved in the photo, but still received credit when it was disseminated by the AP. - Desmond Hobson (talk) 01:06, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Lots of inaccurate information!

I dont know where this stuff came from but I have been employed at the station since 1978 and a senior manager since 1983. I don't have time to fix everything so perhaps someone else can.

1. The all digital studio in Rogers orginates newscasts only. The final news stream is sent by fiber optic line to Fort Smith for commercial insertion and to air. 2. The Fort Smith studio (very much alive !!!) handles all other functions including switching all four program streams, recording and playback of all locally orginated syndicated programming, and all commercial insertion. 3. Donna Bragg no longer anchors. She works for Sparks Hospital.

I already took out the entry saying Bob Hernreich bought the station in 1983 and changed the callsign to KHBS. His dad built it, his brother John managed it until his death in 1978, then Bob and his sister Cindy ran it until 1996.

I also removed the sentence referring to a Fayetteville news bureau. We had planned to do that, but never did.

• Is this still true today? I know all other area TV stations have completely moved to NWA, including KFSM. KHBS/KHOG is the only station left with an office in Fort Smith. Just wondering if the Fort Smith office of 40/29 does all of this anymore?Bjoh249 (talk) 21:59, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material

Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to the list of former employees in articles. Including this type of material in articles does not abide by current consensus and its inclusion is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
3. WP:Source list tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). If a preexisting article is already in the encyclopedia for the person you want to add to a list, it's generally regarded as sufficient to support their inclusion in list material in another article. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 17:34, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
